    VStrom / FJR

I keep a V-strom 1000 next to my FJR in the garage. The V-strom has more comfy sit-up-and stretch-your-legs ergos and is way more flickable and fun and easy to ride quickly in slower, tighter twisties. While I do go exploring a bit off the beaten path with it, it's still a 500 lb streetbike and...

    FJR Stock Seat

I used a belt sander (though a rotary would probably works better) to remove foam mostly from the center of the seat. It's actually a little lower in the middle than near the edges, and sort of dish shaped. Looks stock with the cover on as it just stretches across the low area. All day comfort...

    FJR Stock Seat

I just removed the cover and shaved some foam from the center of the seat to dish it out somewhat. Amazing how much difference it made... very comfortable now.

Look What Was Delivered To My Door Today

I used Daily Direct for a Ducati I bought in early December of '02. I live in a semi-rural area and as luck would have it, we were having a big early-winter snowstorm. The DD driver flagged down a plow truck to confirm directions and it turned out the plow truck driver was a neighbor of mine so...

    best price 2007

Try Phibbs in Albany, NY. Their website is quoting $12,299 for an '07 FJR. https://www.phibbspowersports.com/ I bought my '06 FJR and my '02 Warrior from them.

Tail Bag option for solo riding

Thanks Axeman. Although I obviously don't post much, I've read nearly all the posts in the FJR general & technical sections over the last 18 months or so, even before I signed on. I'm a bit surprised this mod got so much attention, but I'm glad I could contribute something useful. The FJR is...

Tail Bag option for solo riding

FJRobert, the rivets don’t go all the way through the bag, so when you cut them off from the outside, the inside half just falls down onto the pocket between layers where it won’t scratch anything. Axeman, I know the quick-connect buckles at the corners made it a real tight fit so I felt they...

Tail Bag option for solo riding

OK, additional pics and approximate dimensions have been added to webpage. Renegade: I had thought about using a seatpan for a base but wanted to see how the tailbag would work in general, since a new replacement seat was quite a bit more $ than the bag itself. But I agree the idea has great...

    Hearing Protection

Sounds like feeding your wife is akin to refueling the Hindenburg! :P

Tail Bag option for solo riding

Sqoat, Soft luggage is definitely not as secure as hard luggage, but while the contents might be somewhat vulnerable, the bag itself stays bolted to the bike and is pretty safe. (And there’s no seat to replace the bag if you took the bag off  ). A soft bag liner (like the saddlebag...

Tail Bag option for solo riding

Axeman, I don't have any electronics under the seat for experience… there should be adequate room for it but not a lot. For a more watertight setup, you might slip a piece of foam pipe insulation (the kind with a slit running lengthwise) over each side of the bodywork that is exposed when the...

Tail Bag option for solo riding

Worked great on my 2800 mile trip through the Great Smokies. Updated pics and write-up here: FJR Tailbag

    Best Price For 1300 2006

Keep in mind that part of the reason the dealer is willing to offer a lower price on a PDP bike is that he has no $ tied up in it... he has presold a bike before it's even come in. The reason the dealer warned that the "floor" models would be priced higher is that he is simply going to ask more...
