New sponginess + travel to RR brakes

Thanks for the ideas. I did bleed everything as suggested, but MAYBE just a little improvement. The fluid is nice and clear now . I have not had a wheel off, I rode it about a week before this happened and it was ok. It does "work", but still not right. I took it for a quick low speed ride...

New sponginess + travel to RR brakes

All, I got a break in the weather yesterday to run the FJR, and I was surprised to find the rear brake lever very spongy, and it traveled MUCH more than ever before. I only went a short distance, then came back to evaluate. The pedal travels a LOT, and appears to be actuating the plunger into...

Vance and Hines CS One Exhaust

I got the black ones. I LOVE them. They accentuate the FJR's lines, and sound DEEP and awesome at idle & around town, and are not annoying at all at freeway speeds. I have gotten a LOT of compliments. Could not be happier. I am not sure these pics will come out, but here goes...

    Need More Brakes!

I didn't say so, but yes - I laid into the horn, and I believe that helped. Downshifting as I slow down is SOP, so I didn't mention it. I have a set of Stebel TM 80 Magnum horns to install this weekend if I can find room under the fairing. :bike:

    Need More Brakes!

Well, I looked a little further into some of the suggestions that were really meant to help. I did bleed the front brakes, and while I did not get a noticable air pocket released, it did seem to help a bit. I then took the bike to a local practice spot, and found the front ABS engagement...

    Need More Brakes!

Thanks all for the comments. Some additional info: I am an experienced and aware rider, and I do always watch for and anticipate these kinds of scenarios. I think my awareness and experience kept me safe here overall. The day was warm and clear, the road smooth and clean. Tires are Michelin...

    Need More Brakes!

I was 2-3 blocks from home after work this past week, and a cager left-turning in front of me almost got me. I grabbed all the brakes I could front and back, but it just wasn't what I needed. Granted the bike is 640#, plus my additional 200#, but there just wasn't enough power. I managed to...

    Draggin Bags?

Thanks all for the laughs!! I figured as much, but I have ony ridden the genII, so I wasn't sure. I will definitely call him on it! I also drag my front toes as an early warning system. It does get your attention in a hurry! :D

    Draggin Bags?

A friend who has a Gen 1 FJR is said (by others) to have routinely dragged the bags of the FJR in corners. Is this possible or is it an urban legend being built? I looked at both sides, and it seems like a lot of hard parts would drag first. He has since sold it so I cannot check it out on...
