Engine of interest on ebay passed on to moi by Howie...

Beware of exhaust ports that don't have an even flat black coating. If they look too clean it may be a ticker that had the exhaust ports cleaned to get rid of the shiny oil.

    FJRF006.1: Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)

I agree with Fred, if it works don't fix it. My TPS hasn't been done and won't be done until something goes wrong with it. After my original vocation as an auto mechanic and experiencing the mind set of those I worked for and with I've only allowed someone else to work on my stuff once, other...

    New grips....

If you don't have a bar end larger than the diameter of the bar the possibility of a wet grip slipping off a bar at speed is in my mind something to be concerned about. https://www.603sports.com/20090627280/Tech-...ling-grips.html Read post #5...

    New grips....

I started riding on the back of friends bikes around '65. I have been reading motorcycle magazines since '66. I have owned 62 motorcycles since '71. I had to wait to move out of my parents house to buy one. I have read twice where people have had a serious slipping problem with hair spray and...

The Secret SV-650/1000 Suzuki Owners Society

Great bike. This is an older picture. Now it has a tank protector, Yoshimura muffler, ZX-6R shock, Emulators/springs, front stainless brake lines, good pads, caliper rebuild and Bikemaster Nighthawk bars.

I also have the tallest Zero Gravity screen but I put the Double Bubble back on because it's actually less noise. The main wind force on the tallest screen hit me right in the middle of the face shield. I don't know what year you have. On the 06's and 07's most consider it a huge help to remove...

    And the journey begins

Good info on the head bolts. One way is use a drift or short piece of stout metal, smaller than the head of the bolt so you don't mar the flats, and hammer on it for a while. Start with a medium blow with a hammer and increase the force of the blow until the bolt screws out with a reasonable...

    New grips....

Think about it. If water didn't dissolve hair spray girls would be spraying glue on their heads. Do a test, let it dry and put water on it. Turns very slippery before it completely goes away.

    New grips....

While hair spray has been used for many years for installing hand grips if they get soaked in the rain they will slip right off or slip when you twist.

    Question for AE owners

You will find the clutch soak works best with light cold weight oil like Rotella 5W-40. If your gasket sticks to the cover plate, like mine and others have, you can leave the old gasket on and just use a light coat of gasket sealer. I like Permatex Aviation Form-A-Gasket.

    SICK of this bike!!

To the OP, you said you had a Suzuki. Have you ridden a SV650? On the SV forum the guys kid it's a girls bike because so many girls own them. I have one with a Corbin seat that gives it a low seat height. Exceptional bike and a lot of fun.

Air chuck used in seating tire beads

If you use a ratchet type hold down around the circumference of the tire it widens the tire and makes it easier to seat.

Finally test rode and have a qusestion

I think the FJR trans is excellent. Smooth shifts are a matter of getting used to the way the engine changes speed when unloaded. When you bob back and forth you haven't sync'ed the engine speed with the trans speed. I think the easiest way to do this is don't use the clutch. Bending shift forks...

    Details and questions

"Are stators/generators/volt regulators an issue?" No. On the Triumph site it is common practice to install the FJR voltage regulator on the new Triumphs. If you overload the alternator it will evenualy die which is true of any alternator, otherwise very reliable. Many Police dept's that once...

    2010 Yamaha FJR Intro

I ordered the black/silver FJR/tuning fork reflective vinyl for the back of the bags but I haven't decided what to do to the the sides yet. I already have a black and two red bikes in the shop so they kind of match.

clutch plate soak didn't help. ack!

Ten days ago wiped my clutch plates with Rotella 15W-40 oil and it made my clutch stickiness a little worse. I don't know what oil was run in it the 8K miles but probably some 10-40. This time I soaked the plates in Rotella syn 5W-40 for 3 days (one day is probably enough, I got hung up on...

    And the journey begins

Howie, along with screwing nuts and bolts back in, I also use masking tape marked with the the same number for each electrical connection, water hose and vacuum hose, unless it's completely obvious. This can save time both in assembly and not having to do it twice. Also, next time you take it...
