Just one more comment if Yamaha is reading this.
Why the hell do a freaking tech has to 'duplicate' the surging for Yamaha to say it exist? And when the tech 'duplicates' it, what the hell can he do about it? NOTHING.
Does Yamaha think we're a bunch of morons who don't know how to ride a motorcycle, don't know what surging is, or have nothing else to do but lie about having a problem? Geez. Most of us have had several motorcycles, have more than 10 years riding experience, are considered 'mature' (how many here in their 20s?), and bought the bike to ride it, not having to deal with crap like this. We all understand machines have problems, and are willing to do our part to get them fixed, but when a manufacturer denies the problem is infuriating, and an insult to our intelligence.
Yamaha knows dealers can't do crap on this issue, so why keep bothering us with taking our bikes to a dealer? Just get your a$$es back to your freaking lab and fix the damn problem. It was already said Aussie bikes don't exhibit this problem. And most US '06s neither. The answer is probably right in their freaking faces, but they don't want to do squat unless they're 'forced' to. This thread would be dead by now if Yamaha had acknowledged the problem, say they're working on a fix, and also say THERE WILL BE a fix. Even if this issue is resolved, which I hope it is, this is probably my first and last Yamaha if they continue this stupidity. And it's a shame because the FJR is a great machine otherwise. Off my soap box now. Good day folks.
As a side comment, I know a dealer who stopped FJR orders due to the inability to solve this problem for his customers; I had to buy mine somewhere else, thinking he was exaggerating. He wasn't.
And I received a PM from a fellow who's suing Yamaha to get his money back under the CA lemon law. He asked if I was willing to help him. I said 'HELL YEAH'. Hopefully he can set a precedent the rest of us can use if it comes down to that. I'm not going to lose my a$$ trading this bike because I can't ride it; not without a fight. Let's make all the noise we can folks. I'm probably going to file an NHTSA complaint myself now; reason I didn't was the format is all wrong for this type of thing. All the info on this, Yamaha's phone number, and lemon laws are listed on the pinned thread that 'Truwrecks' started. Check it out. Take care.
