I'm on my way home from SWFOG, today I did 160 from the highway 13 intersection to Popular Buff. Had a great ride, 160s in great shape, eve got new pavement starting East of Bull Shoals lake.

Tomorrow I'll check out highway 19.

Don't have too much fun... :yahoo:

;)

BTW, talked to Smitty today...The Catfish Kettle dinner will be around 6pm on Friday night...if you can't make it by 6pm and come in later...I still recommend that place. Great food and close to the motels.

Saturday night, we will figure on the dinner at the pasta place at 7pm. Smitty has a room arranged for us...they are doing separate checks for us, so if they serve you well, tip them real good for all the hassle. :clapping:

I will be sending out gpx files tomorrow night so if you want one be sure to let me know your email addy.

OK, you got my attention, because this looks like a really fun ride with a fun group! :clapping:

Unfortunately, due to situations beyond my immediate control, I will NOT be able to make this loop (this year). :dribble:

But, I really DIG Chicago & the Mid-West. Sheeze, I've flown there enough times  . I wish I could show up at the rally on the FJR, with my signed Buddy Guy T-Shirt from his 75th B-Day Part-AY from the 31st of July, 2011. :to_keep_order: Yeah Baby! 700 S. Wabash. I've been there a bunch a times! :fan_1:

All'o'yall ride safe and be careful out there! :thumbsupsmileyanim:

It's not just the name that brings us back.

1. Roads are just as twisty as Arkansas

2. Modot keeps the roads in excellent condition.

3. Population is motorcycle friendly (except for that lady in the SUV last year.)

4. No Arkansas style chip and seal, doesn't grind the tires down to the cord over a weekend.

5. Miissouri LEOs are more cooperative (absent)

Nope.... it's the hooters.

KJ, sorry you can't make it this year...you would really love this ride. Maybe next year... :clapping:

Didn't want to mention the HOOTERs. 'fraid we would get over crowded.

BTW Marc had a ton of fun on your favorite road today 19. It's clean and well taken care of.

Well, here is a map copy of the final route. Those that do not intend to use a gps can highlight their paper maps based on this posting. Smitty will be handing out route sheets as well.

Those that DO intend on using their gps should use this post to double check to make sure their gps is heading in the right direction. I will be emailing gpx files out today to those that have sent me a pm requesting one. PLEASE revise your gpx route to make sure it conforms to this posted route. Different programs have different settings and use the same way points differently. SO DOUBLE CHECK YOUR ROUTE. Do not assume that you will just follow someone...I MAY be making you a ride leader on Saturday. :D

Everyone should be familiar with the route and turns before it is ridden on Saturday.

Smitty will have maps to hand out on Friday night. We will be breaking into smaller groups on Saturday morning to make the groups more manageable...if a local wants to volunteer to be the first rider for another group, send me a PM.

As a reminder, I am not a local or a particularly fast rider. I just like to visit this area and ride with my friends. Have fun with this ride, and DO NOT TRY TO KEEP UP WITH THE RIDER IN FRONT OF YOU.

We will wait at all the turns for all the riders in your group to arrive, so there is no need to jeopardize your ride and the enjoyment of everybody else's day by riding over your comfort zone and crashing. If the pace is faster than you are comfortable, remain at your pace and always wave faster riders past you after you move to the right half of the lane. This is a NOT a race.

Now, on the other hand, if the pace is to pokey for you, wait for a safe moment to pass the rider in front of you.

Always maintain good spacing. Many of us have not ridden with each other and/or are riding these roads for the first time. Do not assume that the rider in front of you enjoys you hanging on their tail.

Also, if you wish to leave the group, or ride separately from your group, let your ride leader know at one of the stops that you wish to do so. Do not just up and bail without telling anyone...at a minimum, give a thumbs up wave to someone in your group before turning around and leaving.

Have I said enough? Have I said too much? In any event, we are all adults and we'll be making our own personal choices on Saturday...let's make them good ones. :clapping:

gpx files have been sent...

Woohoo! Can't wait for a little roller coaster run. :D

I don't think you can ever say enough. Have a safe trip out East wheatie.

Also keep in mind this is a very rural area. If you fall it may be a while before EMS / Fire dept / Help can make it to the crash site. Please ride safe, and within your ability. These are great roads, and will make for a great weekend, don't let a brain fart make it a bad weekend.

As Wheetie said, I have maps for anyone and everyone. I will also have a full Missouri map for everyone.

Smitty :p

Thanks Smitty, I'll be needing maps, no GPS this trip.

I'm back to basics, my toothbrush & my motorcycle.

I'll be needing a map as well Smitty.

Really appreciate all the time and effort you and Wheaton have put in to making this a great ride/gathering. Looking forward to doing both with everyone.

So who do we call to order our Hooterville 400 ride t-shirts and stickers from? What?! No t-shirts? Well then I'll have to settle for a picture with a Hooterville girl.

To all the Hooterville riders who have not ridden with me before...listen up: :clapping:

Send me a PM, telling me

  • how long you've been riding
  • how long you've had your FJR...
  • what other riders on the Forum you regularly ride with
  • if you don't regularly ride with someone, let me know if this is your first group ride

There could be a good number of riders heading off on Saturday...I would like to have as much info as I can so that (as much as possible) like minded riders are riding together.

At the SE Ohio Ramble, I had a fast rider in a slower group, and a slower rider in a faster group...no matter how many times I tell someone to ride their OWN ride and pay no attention to the pace of others in their group...atleast one person ignores that advice. (hand up here...sometimes it's me).

Note: We will all be waiting at the turns....so there is NO reason to try to ride faster than normal to keep up.

Absolutely none.

Period.

Capiche?
