Called my dealer again this morning and he said that they cannot place orders for the '15 FJR ES yet. They can do so sometime in October.

I pointed out that this IS October. He promised me he is doing all he can and will let me know as soon as he knows something. I told him that would provide him plenty of time to work up a fantastic deal for me.

If I find out other dealers are getting these bikes before I even get to order one...

Redfish, Your dealer is over burdened with requests for the candy red before they are all gone. Now that that dismal Graphite Grey is known people are in a panic to get the most popular candy red. Are you sure you want a colour that will possibly cause buyers remorse?

If I lived where you do, I'd be looking real hard at a deal from Culman, AL.

That's EXACTLY what I was thinking!

OK, so seems there's a lot of haters on the color. I admit to being somewhat color-biased when looking at these GenIIIs, but then I thought back to when I bought my 06 AE. I honestly never even considered the color when buying that bike. I just wanted the bike! 'Cerulean Silver' is really a boring color when I think about it, but at the time I didn't think about it. Hindsight tells me I'm very glad that I didn't. Now, as to the current GenIII colors, I guess I'd go for the 15 Liquid Graphite, then whatever color the 13's are and then the 14 red. I just never really cared for red as a vehicle color. Of course, my favorite color is blue, so if the 15 had come out in blue, I'd be royally screwed (financially)!

I'm sure Garauld can paint your bike for a price.

Funny that is what my dealer suggested to me when I told him I didn't care for the red either.... He thought for around a $1K he could have it done....

I asked him if he'd take another $1k off the price of the bike, his face went to stone....

LOL

Or Honda-Yamaha of Memphis. It's where I bought the last two FJR's. the 2014 was 12,999.

Lots of options are swirling around in my mind right now.

1. If my dealer, with whom I have a very good relationship, can do me a decent deal, I am willing to compromise a bit on price. They are also willing to take my ST1300 in as a trade in.

2. If my dealer, which is just a few short and convenient miles from my house, can get me a bike in a reasonable amount of time, I am willing to compromise a bit on price.

3. If my dealer can get me a better deal on a leftover '14... But I honestly like the charcoal gray.

4. If my dealer jerks me around... I can afford a plane ticket. I would love to do a Ride Report on a Fly-n-Ride.

5. I have to see what my options for selling the ST1300 myself are.

6. I can already see a Cee Bailey dark tint reverse contour and a set of Two Brothers pipes in black against this dark gray beast.

You've been patient for a long time, Redfish. Just find yourself a decent deal and pull the trigger! You know you won't regret it.

If 'Fish doesn't jump on the Gen III FJR he still has the chance to get Honda's 2015 equivalent Sport/Tour bike That thing will put you eye out.

Wow, so much to think about. Very pleased with the '15 color but it's going to be tough to give up my '11 R1200RT. Does anyone know how the new model rollouts work for Yamaha, i.e., will they trickle in to certain dealers, will many dealers have them on the showroom floor, will I have to order? Also, better pricing to order in the winter or wait until spring? Saw the post that they will be available in a couple of weeks.

Thanks.

That's all kind of debatable depending on the dealers and areas. What we do know for sure is that the 2015s will he cheaper in 2017. :)

I just remember all the excitement once the Red was announced last year, it was really cool to see how excited (most) were and have them announce or commit to a new model.

I just don't see it with this, not even anything close.

One thing about these more sedate and reserved gray colors...

I have a feeling they will appeal to the Beemer crowd more than the bass bote color years do.

That could be a good or a bad thing depending on you point of view. ;)
