I think I found the guy down in Salem that wants to do business! Today was pretty frustrating the dealers up here are just not motivated to sell but that's ok. I have family down there would be a good excuse to go down to see them for the weekend. Didn't get any hits on the Craigslist add but changed it to SOLD just to rattle some nerves.
Shane @ Power Yamaha by any chance?
It was Andrew, but he did cc all the guys in the shop in one of his emails and I saw Shane included in there.

I'm still in a bit of shock that I found someone my first day of looking so thanks a bunch.

I stopped by one of the local dealers yesterday to show my wife the bike and she loves it. One of the guys in the shop smelled blood and was just drooling to make the kill. I didn't appreciate his comments and smartly departed before I said something I was going to regret. I suppose talking with them in the past months I was pretty excited about the bike and that led him to the wrong conclusion. Will have to keep that in mind when ever I have to deal with him again.

I'm really glad I found this forum it looks like there are quite a few guys from the area so that is supper cool.
So today Dave Sibley emails me to tell me MSRP. Glad they didn't wait till I drove down there. Not sure if I would have self control at that point.
Supply and demand... just tell them "No" and go buy from D&H and pay the shipping.

...that what you're doing Ken?

Not yet.... Took my bike down to a local dealer on Saturday and he offered me KBB on it. It was really weird watching someone else ride my bike.

Told him about D&H and that I would be willing to pay the shipping difference to stay local. He didn't give a solid "yes" on that idea but said we'd "work out a fair price" on a new one as soon as he got one in stock. Has an ES and an A that Yamaha confirmed is coming to him and that should be delivered "soon" with 10 more (five each) coming behind those. I was surprised at that number but I think they have three dealerships down here. Riva Motorsports is the name.

Edit: forgot to add the salesguy was quick with "We've got a 2015 for a steeeeeep discount if you're interested?" You could hear all the extra e's in that "steeeeeep". LOL

My local dealer that told me they could not get me a '16 ES in the first batch from Yamaha has a '15 ES on the floor for $14,999 (11.2% discount off $16,890 MSRP) and 2 more in their warehouse. They finally told me Saturday that is the reason that Yamaha is not giving them any allocations for '16 ES models in the first batch because they have too many left over '15's in stock (I guess that Yamaha knows this due to financing their floor plan?), but he said that he could get me one in the second batch coming in April. He knows that I already made a deal for one at a dealer in the Austin area, but he thinks that dealer is also not getting one in the first batch because they told me that they cannot see it in their Yamaha online system and that means they aren't getting one. I told him that the Austin area dealer emphatically told me that they had a firm order with Yamaha for an ES in the first batch but he thinks they are fibbing to me. At this point I don't know who or what to believe.

Got a call from my shipper this morning. Said he'd been calling D&H all yesterday and today and got no answer. Had to explain to him he was picking it up from a motorcycle shop and they are closed Sunday & Monday. Guess he didn't listen to his boss. Doh! He's spending the night in Cullman, AL!

D&H is closed on Monday their web site is terrible but I I'M them on Facebook will know more tomorrow.

All of this said, I don't think the addition of electronically adjustable suspension would have been worth it to me. I guess I could see it if you ride two up a lot and want to be able to quickly change set up. It also might be a selling point when you are ready sell the bike. For me and my style of riding, the A is perfect. Once I dial in my suspension settings, I'll likely never change them, with the exception of switching the shock to the hard setting when I have the bike loaded for a trip.
^This is me too. I've never had a passenger and just switching from soft to hard is enough for the stuff I travel with. I doubt I'd ever pay the extra for an ES.

It's easy to make a statement like that when you've never experienced it and have no idea how good it is. I guess ignorance is bliss.

I'd love to learn more Skooter. You are right, I've never had a bike with electronic suspension adjustment. What are the advantages? When do you use it? Maybe I'll get it on my next bike.

You can use it whenever you want. That wasn't meant to be sarcastic. I hope it did not come out that way. But there are many more situations besides hard and soft (unless we are talking about.......nevermind.) types of riding. Around here, you have lots of area between curves. Riding plush then toggling a menu to firm it up would be awesome. I have a bunch of gear packed on the bike for an upcoming trip, taking all that stuff on an off will mean possible adjustments to get the best experience. But I rode a Gen 1 with 65K on the original shock and 60K on the original fork springs and oil. No service for 12 years. I clearly did not know a good suspension until I made the minor upgrades.

Eventually, I bet our new bikes will be standard electronic by 2020. Maybe 2025 at the latest. ABS is standard now. 10 years ago it was an upgrade.

I bought a 2015 today in Sacramento for about 7000 less than a 2016. I feel I made the right choice and got an ES to boot less than 15750 OTD
How do you figure you saved $7K? I got my 2016 ES for just under $17k OTD...Whenever it comes in.

I would say that coming off an '07 with a full custom Traxxion Dynamics suspension and going to the ES, there is a definite difference. I think the on-the-fly adjustability for minor settings and a quick stop-n-go for the major settings is a game-changer. With my custom suspension, the tendency was to set it and kind of forget it...as a result, I'd end up with a pretty firm ride everywhere. On the ES, it's so much easier to experiment and see what different settings can get you...I can get a couch on the slab and a firmed up ride on the country roads...at the push of a button essentially. How long the ES components will last is the last big question, but I'm not going back to a normal suspension. ;)

Easy there, hoss. D&H are fine folks, and have led the nation in FJR sales for more than one model year. Central Alabama communicates in person or by phone. The internet is for surfing porn.

When I said their website is terrible I meant there is something wrong with it because it doesn't load. I should have been more specific to prevent being miss understood.

You weren't misunderstood, I was being a semi-asshat.

Apologies.

The sophistication of their website only underscores my assertion that Alabamans believe the internet's sole purpose is for surfing porn. Call them on a telephone, and tell them you are a member of the FJR Forum. Gerald and Renaa (pronounced ren-NAY) are solid folks.

I experienced the same thing the other day. I fact, I'm seeing it now too. The pictures links are all broken??

My bike left in the enclosed trailer this morning. Renaa said there were other REALLY nice bikes in there with it that are going home from Daytona.
