I know for sure I would love to attend, but I'm pretty sure I have to walk precincts that day. Hopefully (fingers crossed), it will be the last election year I need to do that. Anybody want to forego the boredom of a Highlander-led bike outing and want to come help? Didn't think so....
Details

Edit- How early are you guys gonna show up? I might be able to stay until ten. Most people don't want to hear from us before noon anyway.

Sorry can no do! I'm actually waiting to eyeball the new Kawi GTR 1400 Concours! I love my FJR but I think the best way to see OEM improvement is through competition!

All o' Y'all have a good time on those there goat trails! :fan_1:

I'd like to get the run started by 11 am so we can get some ride time in ( and maybe lunch ? ). I'll be there early in the AM so I'd advise everyone to show up early if possible. Last year it was packed with bikes and this year it probably will be even more so, so the earlier you are the easier it will be to park.

I'm going to the unveiling but not sure how much riding I can do with you guys. I need to make my way back up the hill that night. I'll keep an eye this thread.

Well then , maybe I'll look for a nice route and show up early, then leave about the time y'all do. I get to hang for a while with some old friends, meet some new ones, and be home in time to bug some unsuspecting voters. Sounds like a hoot!

Does mother AHAMAY do an unveiling at Alices every year...

(asking as I will most likely be in Anaheim the 16-20th for a conference, and if I can swing it I am going to ride out...)

-bvw.

So why is it called a 'goat' trail? Only Pontiac GTO's allowed to run the road? Tight, twisty, and fun? Or tight, twisty and not so fun? Never been there. Comparable to say, Decker or Latigo Canyon in the Mulholland, CA area?

Last year was the first ...with the release of the redesigned 06's. Looks like it may become a yearly event ! :yahoo:

Well.... I led a fjr run back in 03 and it was pretty wet out there, so no high speed could be involved. I took a "scenic back door " route into Big Basin state park, giant redwood trees, moss covered boulders, steam running down both sides of the road, bumpy ass paved road, 1st gear crawl.

"SOME " folks never forget to recall the ride, there I was trying to show everyone the splendor of things in the park and all they were worried about was falling over ... go figure !! :D

I have always wanted to go to Alice's restaurant! At least one of us will be there. I call shotgun behind that smooth Highlander dude! :)

I hate to be the beared of bad news. The annual Half Moon Bay Art and Pumpkin Festival is on for the same weekend. Hwy 92 will be backed up from Half Moon Bay to hwy 280 by 10 am. Try to avoid hwy 92 to Skyline Blvd. to get to Alice's. Through Woodside, hwy 84? to Skyline intersection might be better unless you are to arrive at Alices before 8 am.

ACK !! Hwy 92 will be mini-van hell. !!! Avoid at all costs if running late!!!

other options...

1) Hwy 84 ( Dumbarton Bridge accross the bay ) . You'll need to head north on Hwy 101 a few miles after crossing the bridge to continue with 84 up the hill. Not a bad choice, dumps you right at Alice's.

2) Page Mill road, tight twistie road, semi good surface, a couple turns may bite you if your not carefull. Longest road up the mountain. South of Alice's restaraunt.

3) Hwy 9 from Los Gatos, good road condition, fastest road, ( posted 35 :D watch for LEO  ). Furthest road south of Alice's.

Now that I'm stuck in SoCAL, when and where will the '07 be unvailed in my new stomping grounds?

I miss you Norcal people and the great roads up there. We plan on making it up for the Yosemite run this Spring. :yahoo:
