Was on a mission to make it to girls' dance recital at 5pm. Made it home at 4:45

Took 22 south to Patterson crossing. Along the way passed through Rossland, which sits on top of a mountain that was knee deep in a cloud. Along with the rain from Castlegar I was completely saturated. Hands were cold and damp so turned on the glove liners. Next thing I know they were receiving shock therapy. Don't think the liners are supposed to do that. :dribble: Rain stopped at the border and weather improved more and more.

Passed a few FJR's along the way. Nearly got taken out by a patch of dirt/gravel sitting by its lonesome in the middle of a left-hander a little bit after rejoining hwy 20 off of 97 south. It reoriented the bike to go straight - right off the road into a ditch. Left foot was way out (maybe dragging the road a bit) while body-english coaxed the bike away from doom. Used up most of the somewhat graveled shoulder too but managed to get her going in the right direction. After that I was nice and warm. ;)

Hwy 20 was beautiful in the mountains. Think I saw a bunch of FJR's and others at the summit of Rainy pass, but didn't have time to stop so I honked and waved.

Great to put faces, handles and names together. Hopefully I can keep them straight the next time we meet.

Thanks Jeff and organizers! Your hard work was very evident. However, I vote for somewhere more southerly next time as I get enough wet riding in in Western WA. :bad:

And thanks to my roommate for his hospitality and obvious patience!

Hope everyone still trucking has a safe journey home as well.

Jeff

Made it as far as Wenatchee tonite and will head for the barn in the morning. Staying in a Holiday Inn Express and got a 135.00 room for 77.00 using my VA card. I'll remember that.

Patti and the Sportster got wet but had a good day. :yahoo:
Ray, I made it as far as Wenatchee also, did not see you after passing you and Patti in the rain west of Castlegar, staying at the Super 8, $56, thanks to my stunning long flowing hair, toothy smile and a questionable credit card! Headed towards Longwiew and the coast tomorrow. NAFO was shits and giggles!

That's my CBA DOODE!

Almost everyone has gone. The only two folks left are CBA members #0 & #1 (yamafitter & DCarver). We decided to wait a day for more favorable conditions to our Candy Butt sensibilities. We spent the morning helping the Rally crew pack up before they headed back towards Calgary. Here we are loading up the van and trailer under the BC liquid sunshine...

Finally all loaded up and Canucklehead (Jeff) & NSRider (Kevin & wife) were all set to head out...

Randy who only has a day ride back near Salmon Arm, BC was one of the last folks to leave on this day...

Buddy the Big Brown Bear has given up on those Pacific North Bed Wetters and asked me to take him to Hyder, AK to get Hyderized. More to follow....

Others may use this thread to report in on their safe arrival home.
'Twas a great ride home, only got dumped on once briefly. Dry roads, semi-clear skies and perfect temps all the way home. Too bad you left too soon, Jer.

Check "drivebc.com" before you leave tomorrow; there were plenty of roads closed but if you take 97 as I did (my first time on this route and it was terrific), you should be fine. I'll grab some steaks in case youre' here for dinner.

Jeff,

I ran across the same patch of dirt/gravel also but saw it in time to back off.

Spud and Greb made it home yesterday. 690 miles for me, 880 for him. Got an early start, then sat for 35 minutes in the rain waiting for the border crossing to open. Went from the downpour of BC / Northern WA / Northern ID to 95+ heat and high winds in Montana. Was quite an adventure.

Thanks everyone for an awesome event. WILDCAT! (the unnoficial beer of NAFO)

SPUD

Left with Airboss about 7 and went through Grand Forks on the way to my friends house in Gresham, OR. Thanks to Hudson for the suggested route to avoid a lot of 97, but after looking at the time it would take, I decided to cut some of the northern stuff off and that was just as well with the rain in the morning. I did take 821 along the river which was very nice, but 142 by Goldendale was closed due to bridge repair so I ended up cruising gravel roads until I stumbled on the Centerville Highway road, which got me to Lyle. This turned out to be a nice little road, probably not as niced as 142. Oh well. Got to Gresham at about 5. Airboss and I meet up Tuesday for our journey back to the midwest wastelands.

Same patch was found by our group...

I saw George get squirrely, hopped up on the pegs and dirt biked it over the spot...tricky little bastard!

Donna and I rode 12 through Washington with the intention of taking FR 25 around the back of Mt. St. Helen's but unfortunately it was closed due to snow, mudslides, and a bridge closure. Poo! :( .

Sitting in a starbucks in Longview celebrating my three-year survival anniversary. Will head into Portland shortly and spend a couple of days visiting friends and family before continuing the journey home. B)

Ellensberg, WA tonight, a freaking GREAT ride with rain, mud, cold, hot, yawns and giggles.

It really does *not* get better than this!

Oh, need to mention that Wabs is running great! Really enjoying the 'substitute' motobike! :yahoo:

Beayoooootifull weather at Castlegar now, wish you were here!

Me and Yamafitter heading to dinner, in the luxurious dry 75f temp now!

Ps

Thanks to all that left beer, booze in fridge!

Wonderful hotel staff gave all to us CBA survivors!

"No need for all of us to get wet!"
I know that is all a bunch of BS. Carver is in a 75degree tavern so he can stay out of the rain.
