Black FJR

They've added some new pics over at the Yamaha site. It appears that the "FJR" silver panel was given a "blackout" my 5-yr-old could have done with MSPAINT. The panel looks kind of satinish so it was a bad retouch of the photos. I've now seen the 08 with a midsection of complete silver, now half-silver, and in the 360 view, almost all black (save the frame), WHICH IS TOTALLY COOL. I LOVE IT. However, one side of the 360 shows the medallion and the other side is "painted" over. So which is it? I'm a lifelong Honda driver and am starting to wonder if Yamaha's right hand can actually wash the left, given the inconsistency of color on a model hitting the floor in a few weeks. It's a website. Change it. It matters to me, a future customer. I have important things on my mind like to do the stripes or not, silver helmet or not, things like that...

Can anyone confirm that the all black 360 view is what we will be getting? It looks the most authentic, to me, of all the new pics. Black is my color, in case you didn't get the hint in the upper left.

Those of us who have been around for a few years have learned to wait until the ACTUAL Annual Presentation of New Models. There will be one on the West Coast and One on the East Coast. Members will actaully attend these events, examine the new bikes and post pictures. Then we can all ofer opinions based on FACT. YMMV.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that I predict that the new 08 standard model will be:

Drumroll..........................................

BLACK.

Not sure about all the details, but I'm almost willing to bet on it.

And most likely the side trim pieces will remain silver, since that has been standard since the introduction of this generation, and black has been an available color on other continents. IOW, when black models have be available in Europe and Australia they have been like every other color....only black.

I'm sorry that Yamaha has wronged you so badly.

Maybe this isn't a good time to bring this up, but you wanna see how FJRFencer caught Yamaha trying to pass off an '06 in their website as the new '07 cherry color last year?

Seems to me that Yamaha is doing good and keeping you spun up like an 8 year old the day before Christmas. Where many were disappointed with the '07 color on the website...many of those thought it looked far better in person. Hopefully, the '08 color impresses similarly. Two months until FJR Christmas!

Honzo, I know what it's like to chase a dream. Just hang tight for a few more weeks and you'll get real pics of the real deal.

Get your helmet now. Silver would be just fine (i prefer light colored helmets to dark - my science teacher taught me a bazillion years ago that light reflects heat while black absorbs it). Silver and black always look good together.

Regarding stripes and all that other stuff, once you have it in your garage, you'll be more interested in riding it than debating if you're gonna put stripes on it or send parts off to the painter. Be patient...it won't be long!

Yes, just like the 07's...

It seems Yamaha is running short on Product photographers so they just photoslop up some of the previous years images. Which considering the changes probably saved them a few hundred dollars

Give them a break guys. Believe it or not, they have to wait for production units too. They're just trying to let you know what to generally expect.

Perhaps the fact that some of you will base your small minded purchase decisions on things like the FJR font probably eludes them.

My guess is , since it is usually in October it will not happen this year.

But the black has some maroon metal flake in it, that's why they call it Raven. Take a look at a R1 in the sun it looks really good.

Haven't seen it yet, but that should be pretty cool.
