I think most would call me an old lady rather than a chick, but thanks! If I survive my first experience at dirt biking tomorrow, I'll be there Saturday.
When in doubt, gas it! Most important thing to remember on dirt!

Front brakes are bad news unless you are straight up and in total control. Application of power will get you out of more problems on dirt than you can possibly imagine.

Good luck and have fun!!!

You could just wait till Sat and follow Jeffs route :D
Alright now! It's time to set the record straight.

That goat trail at EOM was chosen by Garmin, not me. Our group needed a shorter version of the original route. As I told everyone, all I did was remove a few points off the route and let the GPS choose the path between the two remaining ones. For some reason Garmin thinks that county road is viable all the way across the mountain, NOT!!!

Now the decision to explore that goat trail beyond the point where it initially turned to dirt... well, that was all mine! Guilty as charged.

:)

But you know, without that exploration we would have missed seeing Miss West Virginia smoking her cig on the front porch.

Fixed it for ya...

So, this past weekend was good for the chilly nads & nipples crew. It would've been better w/o any rain... rain that wasn't expected.

Oh, there was also the rain that I hit on my way out of town. It was 34 degrees when I left my house & it got quite a bit colder as I headed west into VA. Then it started to rain. It was most unpleasant. I wasn't really horribly nervous until I saw the sand trucks out sanding the overpasses.

Again, it was all good company. It was nice meeting Trimmantom (Tom) & TNT (Vicki) on Saturday.

Vicki, I hope that your ride back home was uneventful. I'd like to tell you that the rain that forced you home stopped after we left the Wolf Pen Gap area... but we actually hit rain on and off all day. We cut the ride a little short because of it, too.

I am the only person that took any pics... & then it was still only 4 pictures. I am sure that Jeff will post one or two of those for me. I have no access to photo posting or viewing here at work.

Hey it was great to meet you guys!! I'm glad I made my decision to head home. I didn't have to ride too far north and I rode out from under the fog/mist and had dry roads most the way home. It was quite pleasant up in my area Saturday afternoon and Sunday. I hope to ride with you again sometime.

Vicki

I was beginning to wonder if any of you bums were going post up the weekends events... Since I was STUCK AT WORK and unable to ride. But, these preliminary reports would indicate that my "No fun allowed without me" curse worked. At least, to some degree.

...yeah, I don't think any chilly nipple pics are forthcoming. ;)

We had plenty of fun Scabo,There were almost three crash and burns due to the wet roads.

Watching Grumpy's rear tire break loose was enough to make me slow down! Too bad the weather couldn't have been like today. 73 and sunny here.......think I"ll go riding. :D

Nooooooo! And, NOOOOOOOOO!

All day Saturday, I envisioned poor, pitiful riding friends pining due to my absence.

And while cursed, NO "Crash-N-Burn's" allowed! Ever! We've had way more than our share of those. I just didn't want the party to be too good, since I wasn't there. (afraid I wouldn't be invited to the next one!)

I did hear talk of "pining" for your missed company. FYI... the party was better than the riding. Some of the riders found the rain slicked roads to be very little deterrant to riding fast. Snow White spent quite a bit of time picking vinyl seat out of Grumpy's ass Saturday night. That was really interesting.

Jeff Ashe has interesting comments about Shinko Raven tires, too.

Still in all, I managed to clock 1250-ish miles From Friday to Sunday. Bummer of it is that most of this mileage was the trip to-from.

Seriously, I wish that a few more of you folks could've made it.

I didn't even drop my bike going up the cabin's driveway this time.

Yeah, being stuck at work was not fun. Especially when I would think about what ya'll were doing.

I'll be interested to hear about the Shinko's. I have a set waiting but now I'm a little nervous since I have a lighter bike.

Ashe should get that driveway paved for us. We could paint it camo so the cabin could retain its anonimity. A good camo job and it would still be invisible.

But rain or no rain, I wish I had been there. (Oh, I bet that driveway was fun in the wet)

Driveway of cabin = no wet... wet wasn't until Saturday. We arrived at the cabin Friday evening. Saturday night I stayed at Grumpy's pad. He & Judy made me feel like I was spending the night at a fine B&B.

Some real fine folks right there. Very down to earth. You meet the nicest folks on an FJR.

Good to hear that everyone had a good time. Hate that I couldn't make it, but it was good to see my daughter come home from her first few months of college. Still got some riding in over the weekend though.

Nawh, You just stand on the pags and gas it, just like you were riding an enduro!

Jim

Glad no one was added to the crash club, hope I can catch up with some of you folks sooner than later. Just wasn't in the cards this time.
