MsNASCAR and I are nibbling at this DV bait. We will talk it over tonight and get back soon.

I might be installing the penske shock this weekend for what is looking like a busy new year.

Okay, we took the bait, hook line and sinker.

MsNASCAR made the call this afternoon to inquire about the price and other particulars and when they said there was only ONE room left, she jumped on it. We are booked for Friday and Saturday nights. Now to put in for that Friday off and we are set.

We are looking to meet up with familiar faces and friends.

Which hotel are you staying at, Pegscraper? The group is split between two places.

It would be Stovepipe Wells, as it appears where most others are staying.

I see what you mean about two locations. Jacquie was surfing the forum today and noticed Fairlaner's thread about the Longstreet casino. Yes, it is nicer, cheaper and next to the DV park. We booked it and if we can get 10 rooms, cheaper still. :yahoo:

So for anyone wanting to stay at the sold out Stovepipe Wells hotel, we will be cancelling our reservations tomorrow.

Ditto that... a nicer room and better rate won out over an additional 60 miles in the saddle. I just booked at the Longstreet Casino and I'm cancelling my Stovepipe wells room in the morning so a deluxe room will be available.

I'm tying a longer trip onto the back end of this one and I'll be camping, so I guess I'll camp at the Stovepipe Wells campground, which is right across the highway from the hotel/village area where the rest of the folks will be. I just called to make sure I wouldn't have to ride after an evening of revelry. I assume there'll be revelry???

So anybody else camping? Sounds like the campground is pretty much a parking lot, but I won't be hanging around it at all. Um, maybe I could borrow somebody's shower?

Mike I suggest we all meet up Friday morning at Dantes View.....

South side of the park Friday and North side Saturday....

We could all meet at Furnace Creek for Breakfast on Saturday and then head for the north....

what do you think?

That works for me.

Dante's View Friday morning.

That way we can do the overlook, down to Badwater, Artists Canyon (Artist's Pallet Drive) and then go wander around looking for wildflowers and anything else we want.

Furnace Creek for breakfast on Saturday morning.

Then head up to Scotty's Castle, the crater and maybe Beatty for lunch and then Rhyolite?

Or whatever order folks want to do things depending on the time of day.

With this group it will probably take 2 or 3 tours for everyone to see the castle.

Mike what time are you guys expected in SPW?

We will be going thru there at about 12.30-1pm and will be stopping there for gas..

Google maps says 6 hours and 2 minutes for a 251 mile run from I-15 and 138 to The Longstreet THRU Death Valley, what are they smoking.......

3 Hours?
