Do Bridgestone T30's wear faster than 023's?

Yes, i've searched some on the specific question--didn't find a lot of answers yet.

For those of you (like I used to be) that used the 023GT's (not the OEM's) as a 'go-to' tire, are you finding the T30GT to wear out faster? I remember 'stone saying the new ones were going to have 20% more life.

I've got about 4200 on a set of T30GT's and 2000+ miles worth of upcoming trip(s) planned soon, and I'm not liking what I see. My ride last (long) weekend was about 1800 miles and the wear started setting in on the front and the rear. They feel great, but worried mileage will be disappointing.

I used to get about 6500 on the 023's.... Did they pull a PR3 on us with this new improved version? I know what fun tire threads are, but specific answers to this question in your experience is appreciated, so I can figure out if I need to change sooner than later.

Not my experience with the two tire models, but I have not yet worn out my T30 rear. I usually got about 7,500 miles from 2 of 3 023 Rears and currently have about 3,300 miles on the T30 with what appears to be way more than 50% tread left. I usually get about 9,000 miles from the 023 Fronts and currently have about 5,200 miles with about half of tread left. I do not have any experience with the T30 front yet, but I do have a set sitting in my garage for installation after I return from South Dakota.

Agree that comparisons would help... I got 6700 on one set of 023GT's (to the belt on back, front still not too bad) and pulled another at 6200 that weren't quite done. If they were 20% longer lasting, I'd be looking at maybe 8K....but I really doubt it based on how they look now at 4200.

Agreed. It is way cheaper to change early than it is to run out on a trip and pay the premium.

Plus, peace of mind is worth a lot.

Approx 8,500 miles on stock 23's for both.

10,000 on 23 GT's, and rear was showing lots of cord on rear. Front was past wear bars.

If the T-30 is shorter lived than the 023GT, then I am going to be looking for new rubber before I get home from the trip I am starting on Friday. I figure I'll be hitting 10,000 miles somewhere around South Dakota in about three weeks with several thousand miles left to go. About half slab and half nice roads.

I remember you ate up the T30. Have you ever run the 023's since that is what is being asked? It's cray that you only got less than 4k miles from that T30, especially based on others experiences.

Joe put the T-30s on then proceeded to trash them at several rallies with Intech and others. I thought I had an easy trip left on some PR2s and completely smoothed those at the Southeast Ohio Ramble following Joe, on the same trip he was breaking in the T30s. The guy is an animal, and his mileage on that tire is not representative. Crushing brakes coming into sharp corners and twisting the throttle out the other side is a sure way to make any tire look short-lived. Thank goodness he scared himself in to riding slower this year.

After my experience with the 023's this last weekend my bike will not see them again. Even if they were free! Can't tell you about wear as they will be coming off with about 1200 miles on them. The T-30's were awesome for grip, but were typical of a Bridgestone in longevity. I got about 4500 out of the rear.

Are your talking about the OEM 23's that came on your '15? Not the same tire as the 023GT aftermarket, which were my favorite tire and wish they didn't stop making. Looks like I'll probably pull my set early so as to not stress on my most excellent adventure to C-eh-N-eh-D-eh.

Spud, I just ran an 023 GT and a T30 GT back to back on the rear.

The 023 was hard on the wear bars at 5000 miles.

The T30 still had a little life, maybe 500 miles, left at 5750 miles.

Of course the roads you ride and other factors can make a huge difference, but that is my experience.

I'm currently testing a T30 EVO.
