Well . . . if the weather isn't prohibitive . . . and I can find a place to hold up on Thursday night . . . I may actually be goofy enough to attempt this one . . . I'm discouragingly down on my typical annual riding miles and pulling this off would make me feel better . . . .

Have't cut the insurance back yet and the stitches are coming out of the hands next week, so maybe we can get one last ride in, before we start weekend hosting duties at saddleback

Here is my intended route, open/subject to change to accomodate additional riders as needed :) .

Where would be a good meeting place to pick you up Alan and Fred? George, want to meet at the gazeebo again in Townsend?

We could probably meet-up over in Goffstown. And maybe we could show you some better roads over to Rte 202 in Northwood. Rte 4 is really nothing special, and you'll probably want to avoid Concord altogether. Joann and I went over to Alisson's this summer (yeah, it was every bit as good as you said, CJ) and I managed to find a nice route over there. I'll have to see if I can find it again in my "files".

Townsend works for me. What time frame are you looking at? I have to be back in RI defrosting by 5:30pm

About 8:00, George? I also have to be back at a reasonable time to get the littlest one from school, hence I plan on returning via slab.

Goffstown works. I agree, the burgs are best avoided, but also looking at time. Give me a little bit and I'll put together a few better routes and let you take a peak and see what you think.

I'll wait and see what the next routing looks like. We would most likely try to intercept the ride someplace in the Northwood area though Goffstown is sure a possibility too. Too bad time is so short for you CJ, Fred and I know a bunch of nice roads from Milford over to the coast.

It's gonna be a three cup lunch, two to hold and warm each hand and a third to eat.

Now you're talkin'!

Trying to come up with reasonable timing for this ride as well as nice riding roads appears challenging. I don't want to ride 6 hours just to get there and then have to haul ass to get back home... I'd rather enjoy the ride, not have to worry about hurrying up to eat or to try and make time by slabbing it. Here are some routes trying to obtain the perfect trifecta... bear in mind this may not work for everyone, but the option of creating one's own route and meeting at Alison's is always an option on the table. YMMV.

Option 1 - most direct southerly route This may be best for George to allow more travel time so he doesn't have to leave at O'dark-thirty. This is about a 3 hr run per Google.

Option 2- allows pickup points beneficial to Fred and Alan while maintaining good time frame This is about 3 1/2 hrs.

Option 3- Pick-up option closer for Alan? Plus coastal foray.

4 hours, the end of the window for my candy ass with no heated grips/gear...

Option 4- a slightly longer route but with excellent vistas Somewhat out of the way but could be do-able for Beemerdons, DCarver, Iggy, Bust, et al.

No need to worry about a closer option to me for two reasons. One is that I can connect with your ride just about anyplace. The only reason I wouldn't be joining the ride in Milford or Goffstown would be to keep my pillion from freezing on the extra miles. If she opts out then I can pick up the ride anyplace. Two, I may still not have tires by then.

And I am completely game to ride any of the roads that you want to go on. So take your pick!!

I know that I will be one-up as my pillion bails out when the temps get this low. Our recon mission to Stowe weekend before last was stretching her limits of thermal endurance and it was only in the mid to upper 40's. I fully expect this one to be considerably chillier. Plus I only have one set of heated gloves. :p

But if we take option 4 it will make for a pretty long weekend.

Gotcha. Hope you can make it, but understand some decisions have to be made and rubber may be lower on the priority list.

Fred- is there a particular place in Goffstown you had in mind to pick you up?

George- let me know when would be a convenient time for you to meet up. We can be a little flexible with time cuz I know you have a ways to go just to get here. An hour or so might not seem like much until you factor in the windchill and then it can make all the difference! But, you already know that!

We're getting pounded with snow today . . . and it looks like eveyday this week . . . I'm screwed . . . time to get out the cover and battery tender

Well, I fought off FedEd loosing my tires. I engaged Southwest Moto to file a claim and ship me replacement tires. SWMoto gets a gold star. The service manager at Hudson Cycles gave me a tremendously good price to mount and balance my tires while I waited, saving me 3 hrs of driving time. My pillion and I have been working out arctic riding gear for this sacred chowda ride. I'm scrubbing in my new tires. All systems are GO!

At ~4:00 today me mom calls (today, 12/05) and says me fhadda has passed. They were at restaurant having lunch when he keeled over, never to arise again. So, it looks like I will be in Knoxville over the weekend. I sure wish I had a better reason to miss the ride.

Whoa...sorry to hear about that Alan. Condolences from my family to yours. :(
