Alan,

Very sorry to hear about this. Prayers to you and your mom and the rest of your family. We will get together riding next year, will have to do Mt. Washington for sure.

Alan,

I'm very, very sorry to hear about your Dad . . . my thoughts and prayers will be with you today . . . take care of yourself and your family. See you next summer/fall.

Welcome to New England, folks! Looks like Kennebunkport might be a bit of a stretch this year...

The current alternative/optional plan is to meet up at the Old Time New England Seafood Co. in Athol, MA. Date is unchanged, still this Friday, tentatively at noon. This place was recommended by Alan, IIRC, from a ride earlier this year he had led around the Quabbin. Fred says it's good.

I will keep an eye on the weather and contact the restaurant tomorrow to make sure they'll be open. The address of the restaurant is 2294 Main St. Athol, MA. We've had a few flurries and a very minimal dusting last night. So far, no salt ;) .

Just a flurry or two after our measley 4 inches of snow and 10F temps.

Man...I could go for some nice chowder right about now!

Maybe I'll get me some Campbell's...

;)

I know, I know, what a bunch of ******* crying about a few flakes....

I don't mind cold temps, it's the salt and black ice that can really wreak havoc on the bike. I could ride the KLX with the knobbies I reckon! And Freddie could take his Strom... and if memory serves me correctly, I think I recall seeing a KLX in George's garage in a picture from the Ride to the Rock thread. So there, it's all set, this could be the Eastern dual-sport FJR riders version of Pap Chuy's exploits!

The KLX is fueled and ready to go...

I'd have to stand-up on the pegs all day, as my Man-strom's seat is out in Shasta Lake, CA being Russell-ized. I'll have to tuff it out on the Feejer. I can tell you first hand, it's a lot warmer on the FJR anyway... ;)

For the benefit of those who are crazy enough to still be contemplating this ride, the current plan is to have lunch in Athol as previously stated. I will be posting up late afternoon Thursday as to the final go/no situation based on the weather and local conditions.

Cota, is your KLX the 400 or 250? I just bought an '07 KLX 250 this past October as my birthday present to myself........ maybe you can show me how to ride it?

Please accept our condolences Alan, there is never a right time no matter what the age.

Mine is an 07 klx 250. I'd be happy to go out goat trailing with. My son is always ready for a ride also, he has an 09

Well, here's the deal for anyone interested in this ride. The plan is to meet FredW at The Country Store in Ashburnham at the intersection of Route 101 and 119 for 11:30 a.m.

For anyone wanting to meet up at my house, I plan to leave at 11:00.

The address is 233 Ashburnham State Rd (Rt 12) Westminster, MA

We plan on arriving at the restaurant in Athol for ~12:30 for those who would like to meet up there.

Weatherman says cold, single digits overnight, but dry and sunny tomorrow with no precip. Hope to see all who can make it! :)
