Video's of the "Hollywood Stuntaz" antics just before the incident. There's enough moving violations citations to fund NYC for a year.

Gwarsh...See, I was premature in my judgements of these jackasses. By watching these videos, you can see they were actually just trying to ride safely and kindly ask people to slow down and give them some room so they would not get hurt. Or not!!

How many cars did they nearly run off the road? That person in the blue SUV underneath the overpass in the first video nearly wrecked trying not to get hit. I'm sure there is a legal reason they had to do wheelies on a freeway. Hell, I bet it was so they could be taller and therefore more seen by the dangerous 4-wheeled public. AND speaking of 4 wheels...WTF is with the fourwheelers barreling between cars?? Any of you see the guy in the 2nd or 3rd video in the yellow Miata pissed about all the bikes blowing by him?

I'm glad these douchbag's friend was stuid enough to post this crap on YouTube...Now everyone, including the civil courts will have it as evidence that these idiots are not as "innocent" as that guy's fake crying mommy says they are.

Here is some background on what was supposed to take place:

Kelly said it was similar to an event last year with bikers who call themselves "Hollywood Stunts," converging on Times Square. "This is a major stunt event where motorcyclists from various locations come together. Their ultimate goal is to get into Times Square, which they did last year," Kelly said. "Quite frankly, it wasn't on anybody's radar screen last year. We were aware of it this year." Last year, “they drove down Broadway [with] over 1,000 motorcycles, dirt bikes, quads,” Kelly said. “So there was an intention to do that again this year, but because of [police] checkpoints and enforcement in the outer boroughs, they weren’t able to make it.”
It was shortly after the police road block and arrests turned away the riders that a splinter group got involved with the SUV. I suspect the thugs motorcyclists bikers had an attitude and the SUV in some way provided a trigger.

I must not have a genetic predisposition to be a "biker". While I enjoy riding with small groups of riders that I know and trust I have never had a desire to be a part of a "Bike Rally". I cannot remember having a desire to go stuntin' in Times Square. As I ride my bike alongside SUVs I generally have no desire to try punching out the windows with my unprotected fist.

I guess I need to work on my attitude.

I'll just agree with you RFH, instead of running a rant getting all political and s**t. Then have Iggy go all ape on my a$$.

Isn't it cool how when really serious things happen how we can stay on topic.

I have nothing to add here. You guys have already posted any thoughts and feelings I have about this event.

I do have a question though.

Can any of you do a stoppie on an FJR?

No. I have actually tried several times and the ABS kicks in as soon as the rear tire lifts. And, just in case you are wondering if I am serious, I am. My non-ABS ST1300 will lift the rear but I lack the courage to stay with it.

This situation just sucks the whole way around. Now I feel like I got a target on my back and everyone is going to hate motorcycles.

Sum *****,

HeHe. I knew someone here would have tried. I didn't suspect you Redfish.

Just for the record, I don't do anything on my bike that's likely to break ****.

Now in my younger days before I understood cost and effect.....

What you need to understand is... It ain't my bike! The FJR belongs to Dear Old Dad!

In all truth, it started off with a discussion of the ABS and its effectiveness. Many folks on the ST forums report never getting to the activation threshold for the ABS. Dad and I were discussing it, one thing led to another... Then when I did a SealMate repair of a fork leak there was a need to test the repair by compressing and releasing the forks. What better way than a Stoppie/Endo? I had a car cut over into my lane on my way to work while riding Dad's FJR. I was used to the smooooth progressive brakes of the ST and the handfull of brake I grabbed on the FJR was a bit more than I needed. It did lift the rear but the ABS actually felt like a ratchet as the rear settled quickly back to the pavement.

No, I am not a "Stunta" or a "Playa". No, I don't make a habit of acting like a fool on either the FJR or the ST. Dear Old Dad has always said that when operating a Gentleman's Motorcycle a man has a responsibility to act the part of the Gentleman. Since I am not anxious to have a conflict with Dad, I play nice.

These videos should give the authorities everything they need to tie in the rider/bike with the ones that were the ones involved in the violence. I must say that this makes me sick. This type of exposure gives us all a bad name in the eyes of anyone who does not understand the true enjoyment of riding a motorcycle.

Naaaa...:I don't think there will be a large increase in animosity towards riders. Honestly, if I wasn't on this Forum, I would have never seen this. Those that do will separate the majority of riders from the showboat idiots these guts represent. If we continue to not ride likeass hats, most sane people will understand we don't all represent that stupidity.

That's what I'm hoping at least!

It made national news... Anyone watching the news has been bombarded with it for at least the last two days.

Law enforcement around this part of the country seems to expect a motorcyclist to try to run rather than pull over and face the music. Some jurisdictions automatically radio for a roadblock when chasing motorcyclists while others simply do not give chase. Add that to the absurd showoff gatherings where large groups block off a section of highway at the inconvenience of other travelers effectively thumbing their collective noses at everyone so they can video themselves performing circus acts in the roadway and it all adds up to a lot of animosity between motorcyclists and law enforcement, not to mention the general driving public.

I wonder where the guys got the idea that this kinda crazy riding was ever cool. Kids these days...where ever do they get their morals?

Note that the following has been edited by me to remove bits associated with fund raising, public media links and already reported information here. As I previously mentioned this POS Mieses is local to me and almost all the local news outlets have taken an 'editorial view' to report this as a tragedy that befell a family guy that was just out for a ride.

Biker's right to drive revoked since 1999

Before NY road rage, Mieses had dozens of violations

The Lawrence motorcycle rider critically injured Sunday in a wild New York City road rage incident has had his right to drive in Massachusetts revoked since 1999, according to state transportation records.

He also has had dozens of traffic violations, those records show.

Edwin Mieses Jr., 32, was run over by a Range Rover SUV on the Henry Hudson Parkway after a biker he was riding with collided with the SUV. Family members have said Mieses was in a coma after the crash and suffered serious internal and spinal injuries that could leave him paralyzed.

Mieses’ learner’s permit to drive a car was suspended in 1999 following a spate of violations in Lawrence, including speeding, failure to stop, attaching improper plates, driving without insurance and driving an unregistered vehicle, according to records from the Registry of Motor Vehicles. He never received a driver’s license for a car or motorcycle, the records show. Since then, he has accumulated numerous violations for driving without being licensed, along with violations like speeding, driving to endanger and failure to stop, according to the records. Those violations extended the suspension on his right to drive.

Most recently, he was arrested on May 24 in Andover for driving without a license.

Mieses was riding with a group of other bikers on the Henry Hudson Parkway Sunday afternoon when one of the riders’ rear wheels collided with the front bumper of a Range Rover driven by Alexian Lien, 33. The SUV and several bikers, including Mieses, stopped on the parkway for a few moments, then the SUV sped forward, running over Mieses.

A video recorded by one of the riders documented the incident and was posted on YouTube. The bikers followed Lien for several minutes on the parkway and off an exit ramp into Washington Heights.

Video showed the bikers surrounding the SUV when it stopped. One of the bikers took off his helmet and used it to smash out the driver’s side window.

Police said Lien was pulled out of the Range Rover on West 178th Street and St. Nicholas Avenue and beaten in front of his wife and 2-year-old daughter, who were in the SUV during the entire incident. Some of the bikers damaged the SUV and slashed its tires.

Family members said Mieses stopped to check on the biker who collided with the Range Rover before Lien drove over him. The video shows the SUV lurching in the air as it started up the parkway again.

Christopher Cruz, 28, was arrested and charged with menacing, reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child. New York City police said yesterday afternoon no one else has been arrested, though they are searching for a second suspect.
