Well I made it to work o.k. 6 years of ownership and 72K miles and this was a first for me. Lesson learned.

Problem solved.

Thanks, All

... Anyway, after doing some research as Zilla suggested, Dam I hate to admit he was right.

anyway I did the WOT again for a longer period of time and whadda ya know. She fired up and I thought the pistons were gonna go through the ceiling of the garage....
Zilla's always right, you ask him

.

Next time, be ready to close the throttle. I've had it happen once. When the engine finally started firing it was on one or two cylinders but as the others kicked in it wanted to accelerate rather smartly. Since I've done this several times with cars over the years, I knew what to expect and was ready with the throttle.

Tip, if you don't want to pull the clutch lever in (cause for another debate), use your left hand to press the starter button, leaves the right properly positioned to fully control the throttle from the moment the motor will sustain itself. (I often use my left hand to press the starter if I've got the brake on, particularly if I'm holding the front brake.)

I don't think your FJR let you down...she doesn't like to be sitting for too long, starting up and shut off before warm, weak batteries, or washed and rinsed too vigorously around the instrument panels.

I know. I've done all of these things. WOT with a strong battery gets her done.
