Shoulda fingered I would get a variety of responses on this one! I am a serious rider and not so serious a person. I am hooked on bikes and cannot wait to get my own fjr. My husband and I do almost all our own work on our bikes and have added quite a few nice little things to our STs. IMHO you can add all you want to the St and it still rides like a car and sounds like a sewing machine. (Don't tell my husband) He did add Staintunes to his and that helps the whine somewhat. I really like the sound of the fjr and the power is incredible. We took a cornering class in Lancaster, CA (near LA) this June. Great class and worth the price. Good instructors and the training track/course is alot of fun. Streetmasters is the group and I recommend them highly. We live in Seattle and rode out bikes down in 2 days, took the all day class, and then rode back, partially up the coast, in three days. Fun trip and ALOT of miles in 5 days!!! I will keep searching for a female soulmate, so keep your eyes open for me, and I will work on my avatar in the meantime........... :p
Welcome Maggie :) If you took the Streetmasters on June 10th, we've already met. My wife Debbie was under the tent, I was on the red FJR

Hello Maggie - female rider here from Southern Alberta. Seattle was just a hop away from Abbotsford before I moved away last year.
How do I like my '03? - the best bike I ever owned. Advice - get one as fast as you can, eh. :clapping:
Hi Kasey :) nice to see ya posting. You be at WFO this year? You riding over with Rocketdoc? Me & Deb will see ya there.

Hi Kasey,Did you change to a custom seat?

Yes, but only after riding it for half a year to see if the seat would break in. No joy. Then I went to Rich's in Seattle after seeing an owner's photos on the site of the process and Rich built my custom saddle; it was worth every $$!! We'll keep in touch as I'm very often back just up the road in BC.

Hello Heidi, AJ MN and Fjrchik - I'll see you at WFO.

Hello there RogDeb - yes I'll be trailing along with 'Doc and the gang from Vancouver Island. Looking forward very much to seeing you again.

Kasey

Welcome Maggie. There are a number of FJR riding females here. Not all have showed up yet. There are also a few at Sport-Touring Dot Net. Seattle is a good group of serious (female) riders on that Forum. There is going to be a ST.N get together in Oregon in September. You might want to check it out. TJ

Um...kasey...we...um...require pics....yeah....it's required.
Well then picture this: I'm retired; have six children, seven grandchildren, one great-grandson and I 'specially have the roots of my red hair colored silver.

Don't let her fool you, fellas.

I've seen Kasey .... she could easily pass for any of the lifeguard babes of Baywatch any day of the week!

Hello Heidi, AJ MN and Fjrchik - I'll see you at WFO.

Unfortunately, I won't be meeting you @ WFO. Since I'm on the east coast, I'm amongst the individuals w/o large amounts of money & vacation time to go. I will be a happy attendee of EOM (Eastern Owners Meet), though. Have fun & rubber side down, too.

Some other time & event, eh?

Heidi

All of this on this thread and TwoWheelNut and Radman haven't piped up yet...Maggie, when you see TWN and Rad show up, be afraid, be very afraid. :tease:

Huh? Moi? :dntknw: Why, it seems to me that Mr. Radman and I may be the only gentlemen here.

Welcome to our humble, little forum, Maggie. If either Mr. Radman (if it's proper to offer his assistance without asking him) or myself can be of any assistance to you or your spousal unit with regard to the servicing, maintaining or farkling your FJR, please feel free to PM us. We'd be very happy to help. In the meantime, enjoy the bike and please ride safely!

Kind regards,

TWN :)

Fixed it for you, Fred.

Welcome Maggie! I am sure that you love your FJR, when you get one. Although those ST1300's are fine bikes too.

More and more women riders are coming to the dark side, and the more that do, the more the word will get out that it isn't all about a name tag on a tank.

Hey RogDeb! I remember you both. I was secretly drooling over your bike and very proud of your wife for sitting there all day during the class! Great to be here and really excited to be getting into the FJR.

Sounds like there are a few ladies that will be fun to get to know. Not so sure about all the guys at this point!! :)

This seems like a light hearted site and a not so serious group of folks. Thanks for all the chat and it has been fun seeing all the comments (some more than others!). Looking forward to riding a fellow member's bike that he offered me to throw a leg over and give it a try. Pretty nice I'd say.

Hi Maggie!

I’m a petite (5’3”) female and I ride a 2006 FJR. I absolutely love this bike. It’s everything I wanted in a bike. Sporty for the twisties and comfy for long distances.

To overcome the problem of the seat height, I ordered a Corbin saddle which is 2" lower than the stock seat and had them modify it to be as low and narrow as possible without sacrificing comfort. I also had 1.25 inches added to the soles of my boots. I can now touch with the toes of both feet. I love the bike and have no problem riding it. But since I cannot back it out, I have to be very selective about where to park it. I highly recommend this bike. It’s a great bike :clapping:

Hi Maggie, I'm another woman FJR rider. I have an '05 that I bought as a gift for myself the day I got my divorce, I didn't even bother going home, I went right from court to the dealership with my checkbook in hand. I really enjoy the FJR and am sure you will also. I'm just getting ready to have risers installed and new tires. I also ride a '03 RS Venture. I'm lucky to have pretty long legs but am now battling arthritis in my hips and back which has made me change my riding but was still able to make a 2100 miles trip last week from Western New York to Georgia in relative comfort.
