Hey all.

Well, now that I bought a 2007 Yamaha R6, and still have my old 2006 FJR, I can say its been a very interesting past week living with the two. I picked up the R6 and couldn't get off the little thing. My shoulders were sore the next morning, but I'm used to it now. It simply floors me how a manufacturer can build two motorbikes which are so incredibly different, though both having sporting blood. I give them personalities.

FJR - The Gentlemen: Yes sir! Relax and saddle up. You're comfortable aren't you? Yeeeeess, I knew you would like that. Now I can take you to your destination as quickly or as slowly as you desire, and either way I will not make a fuss about it. Acceleration is on hand at any time. At the same time, you'll be relieved to know my ABS braking system will bring you to a controlled stop without worrying about me stumbling about. Yes, my rear brake feels a bit numb, and my throttle is a bit on the firm side, but you'll adjust soon enough. Have a pleasant day, sir!

R6 - The Hooligan: SHUT UP AND GET ON!! ARGHH!!!!!!! Your neighbors will hate me!! Old people will cringe!!! Cruiser guys will shake their heads in disgust and I say %^#$% them ALL!!! MUHAHAHH! You'll be sore, but ******* it I'll get you where you want to go and get you noticed!!! AHAHAHAH!!!! Comfort? What the **** is that??? *****! Shut up and hold on! You'll LOVE my throttle by wire and my fantastic brake feel! Okay, so I'm completely impractical for carrying anything, but screw that! I WANT TO HAVE FUN!!!!!!

Two completely different animals. I rode the R6 for 5 days straight and then got on the FJR to take it to work and I laughed the entire way there because of the differences! It was so much fun!

I truly love and appreciate them both for different reasons. Now when I get on one, I feel I should have gotten on the other no matter what I ride.

My Busa just sez, "Nail it. I dare ya." :p

Owning multiple bikes is definitely fun.

Have to totally agree how Yamaha can make models that feel totally different. I love my VMAX but it's always telling me "I dare you to see how fast you can take that corner <_< "

Love the R6's personality description!

my old 2006 FJR
I don't consider a 2006 to be old! (mine is a 2004)

I wish I had the "problem" of deciding which bike to ride--I only have one choice (although the FJR is always a good one for me :yahoo: ).

Multiple bikes are definitely fun. I have two 1983 Honda CB1100F. One stock and one totally built out. One 96 rwhp, the other 126 rwhp. I also have an 06 FJR. She is my sport/ touring escape. Three weeks ago I purchased a new 08 CBR1000RR. That things is a flat out dream. It damn near drives itself. You just hang on and mutter to yourself in disbelief about how well you can now take corners. Considering I am 54, I figured it would kill my back, but be worth every minute of it. The salesman was actually a two time Austrailian Endurance Racing Champion, or so he claimed. He explained you should grip the tank with your knees, arch your back slightly, and all the pressure will be removed from your wrists. He was telling the truth !!! I did that and now I never seem to get very tired. It even works with my FJR and the others. My 06 FJR has 37,500 miles on it so it does not sit very long. The other bikes get ridden during the week but Sunday distance rides belong to the FJR.

That's a good comparison to read, but much different than my comparison.

For me the FJR is the , fun fling bike.

The steady as she goes ease on down the road ride for me is my Valkyrie Tourer..

Larry33319, don't you know that's a kids bike, and there's no corners down there. LOL

Actually jealous, because my new bike turned into a T-Bird for the wife. Hey it's her turn, I get all the nice toys. (I have been lusting after a couple of KTM's.)

Just took the wheels off the FJR, cleaned them up and painted the rims. Put on some Michelin PR2's today, glad to have A/C and a ceiling fan in the garage.

Harbor freight changer, mojo blocks, and mojolever worked pretty good. Still need a couple of extras, that rear came off pretty hard. Front came off easy. Not bad for the first time I guess.

Damn heat almost kicked my ass mowing the lawn today. Drank at least two gallons of water.

Still fighting off the bronchitis, just adds to the excitement. Damn steroids and sinus medicine kept me up all night so I worked in the garage. Took some sleeping pills, making my typing a little muddled.

Anyway congrats on the new CBR!!!

Wow, that was a string of non-sequiters worthy of Larry King and his old USA Today column. Does he still do that? Havent' picked up that newspaper in years.

"I like the way my '77 El Camino glitters in the sun.... for the money, you will never see a better center-fielder than Frank Prestone..." and on and on...

Have been thinking of getting an FZ1 put was always wondering if it was too much like an FJR and not worth having two bike so similiar.

Anyone ride both and report back if they are different enough?

Guess it would be like nailing beautiful twin sisters, who cares if they are alike or different!

I'll have to get these two together for a family photo...

I ALMOST bought an FZ6 with Scorpion pipes on it. Hell of a deal, but the next day Suzuki test ride days were on so I took a GSX-R 600 out and it was a reminder that I didn't need (heh... need... yeah right) another standard position sitting type bike. I wanted a crotch rocket. The Ying and Yang thing.

I have posted a little about the differences on another thread.

clicky

They are kind of alike but definately not twins by any means. The only thing I didn't like, was that the FZ1 really isn't that much faster than the FJR.

I got rid of the FZ1 for Blackbird. After the blackbird, I would have loved to kept the FZ1 if I had the option, but wouldn't give up the blackbiard for the FZ/FJR combo. The blackbird has a significant difference in acceleration and top end. The FZ1 was WAYYYYY more comfortable than the BB though.

If you want something more sporty, but don't want to sacarafice ergos, get a GENI FZ1. (The old mans sports bike)

If you want something that is balls to the wall, and will be night and day, go for something like a BB, Busa, ZX-14, or 600-1000cc true sports bike.

You can't loose either way!

Sorry for the somewhat hijack,

I almost shot milk out my nose reading the descriptions! I hear a voice reading it in my head. Some english gent with a pipe and slippers for the for the FJR description. Some austrailian punk rocker for the r6 description! :D

Interesting. I planned to get a second bike and also narrowed it to the FZ1. My reasons are that I take a lot of short trips after work to wind down and want something that is easier to push around in the garage, handles a bit quicker and looks great, hence the FZ. I contemplated the FZ6 but for the extra price, the suspension components are better on the FZ1. Thought about the R1 but my old bones need the more upright seating position of the FZ. I have also lurked around the FZ01 Message Board and like what I hear. If you do decide to get one before I do, I'd be interested in your opinion and if I pick one up first, I'll give you a holler.

Same thing here.

3 bikes.

The feej is for commuting and rides with the GF.

R-1, giddy up baby but do hold on.

WR 4 fiddy. Nothing but grin factor... BIG CHEESY GRIN.

Oh and the GF has been so kind as to store her 2007 DR 650 Dual sport in my garage. :yahoo: Compared to the wr it is a dog. But, that will change when she is ready for it.

Multiple bike ownership is luxury indeed. I have my FJR and a TTR125 as well as a Ninja 650R. All are great bikes and fill different needs. DH owns the other seven bikes in the garage, and I get to ride the Warrior, the K1200S and the RTP. No complaints here!

"Sorry for rambling Swingman3, Larry and I are old friends.

Not usually so random."

No worries, Mate. And no reason to apologize. I was just kidding. Sorry if I came across as a ****.

Cheers
