Hey all.
Well, now that I bought a 2007 Yamaha R6, and still have my old 2006 FJR, I can say its been a very interesting past week living with the two. I picked up the R6 and couldn't get off the little thing. My shoulders were sore the next morning, but I'm used to it now. It simply floors me how a manufacturer can build two motorbikes which are so incredibly different, though both having sporting blood. I give them personalities.
FJR - The Gentlemen: Yes sir! Relax and saddle up. You're comfortable aren't you? Yeeeeess, I knew you would like that. Now I can take you to your destination as quickly or as slowly as you desire, and either way I will not make a fuss about it. Acceleration is on hand at any time. At the same time, you'll be relieved to know my ABS braking system will bring you to a controlled stop without worrying about me stumbling about. Yes, my rear brake feels a bit numb, and my throttle is a bit on the firm side, but you'll adjust soon enough. Have a pleasant day, sir!
R6 - The Hooligan: SHUT UP AND GET ON!! ARGHH!!!!!!! Your neighbors will hate me!! Old people will cringe!!! Cruiser guys will shake their heads in disgust and I say %^#$% them ALL!!! MUHAHAHH! You'll be sore, but ******* it I'll get you where you want to go and get you noticed!!! AHAHAHAH!!!! Comfort? What the **** is that??? *****! Shut up and hold on! You'll LOVE my throttle by wire and my fantastic brake feel! Okay, so I'm completely impractical for carrying anything, but screw that! I WANT TO HAVE FUN!!!!!!
Two completely different animals. I rode the R6 for 5 days straight and then got on the FJR to take it to work and I laughed the entire way there because of the differences! It was so much fun!
I truly love and appreciate them both for different reasons. Now when I get on one, I feel I should have gotten on the other no matter what I ride.
