I see Aroostook has signed in to this ride on Fred's confirmation post. . . . . there goes the neighborhood <_< . I can attest his likeness to his avatar is exceptionally uncanny!

I'm thinking my little R2 unit got a concussion during it's tumble last year in a rollover cage incident. (Don't ask.)
Damn, that musta been kool as $hit.... in a sucky sort of way if it was your vehicle  .... but still, gives ya fantastic bragging rights (if no one was hurt of course)

gonna be good to ride w/ ya again :) Though I was "a goin" anyway (as I'll claim the idea myself) :yahoo: , I'm glad you volunteered to lead the charge up Mt. Washington as it seems you must have done it already. The gravel ain't gonna be no problem after riding on the Pacific Ocean beach and over Bear Tooth Pass while the asphault was being replaced last summer

Gonna be great to meet new folk. The revisiting with "old folk" will also be kool as $hit :clapping:

Note: Snikr I graduated from MRUHS in '77.... ain't route 131 great??? :) small world eh? (not looking to hijack thread :eek:fftopic: -- will talk w/ ya there)

I'll prob. ride w/ the phast group (I just hope I can keep up w/ ya'all) :scooter: VT Troopers ate my license alive back in the late 70's (cages--didn't own a bike then) .... now running RD w/ H.A.R.D. on bike instead of 72 Camero... will be phun to dance the dance w/ them on my FJR this time :assassin:

thanks to all for the suggested routes to arrival... gonna have me busy on Mapquest figuing out what I want to do vs what can do given miles and time in saddle before "big event" ... on first blush they look like some mighty nice roads though.... :D

Sunday plans are awaiting on snikr's routing info.

I'd imagine a fairly early departure to minimize riding in the heat of the day?

But it is Sunday, and there will be drinks Sat night, and they do have a nice breakfast buffet...

Thanks to FRJed my route is coming together nicely. I'll try to get the details to Fred by this weekend. Stay tuned.

Just posting to note that the official tally of ride participants are in the first post of this thread. including a tally of who, what & when.

I also went back through this discussion thread and captured anyone's name who appeared they may have been interested and I've list them as a "question mark".

I will keep that tally updated as I receive any new participant info.

As of right now, nobody else has volunteered to lead a sub-group. Like roadrunner, I will be 2-up. But I would not really want to try and lead a "fast paced" group anyway. Just my regular 10 mph over is what I'm comfortable with in a group setting. Mostly because I would feel horrible if someone went pavement surfing, or worse, off road into the trees. Other than Ron's freak encounter with the pavement last year, I have been very lucky on any ride's I've lead or been a part of. I'd really like to see that string of luck continue.

If there are a few of folks that want to scrape some pegs, assuming they are running GPS, they can just ride on ahead and wait for the main group at the next turn or rest stop. Those will all be programmed into the GPS ride routes. I have no problem with that.

If nobody feels the "need for speed" we can just run it in one big group, so long as there are some folks with GPSes strategically spread throughout. That way we don't even have to try and maintain the entire group together. Since we'll be mostly riding in the country. it shouldn't be a real big deal.

I will be 1 up and happy to lead a faster paced group. Since the Greens portion is swinging through Woodsville I may consider peeling off for a short side trip to visit some former neighbors in Bath. It would provide the opportunity to visit the Brick Store in Bath. It is the oldest general store in the US. There is a covered bridge right next to it. It is less than 2 miles off the route.

Sounds good to me!

I would be happy to lead a group on Sunday(won't be able to make Saturday's ride). If I'm two up than I'm like Fred I go about 10 over and that's comfortable for my wife and I. She is a veteran passenger and not much shakes her up anymore.

We would like to join in on the Brick Store. We'll figure it out. This is going to an awesome ride with everyone. I can't wait. :yahoo:

Thanks for the clarification.

FYI,

I hope the organizers don't get to much into feeling any pressure at all. All this is about is coming together and meeting as many fellow riders as we can and have a good time. If I get lost, No worries I'll find my way. Food stops etc we are adults and will get fed whenever they get to us.

Just a great big THANK YOU TO THOSE THAT HAVE INVITED US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's what i'm talkin about.

I haven't seen the route for Sunday but we would like to join in on the Brick Store. Hopefully it will be somewhere around half way thru the ride because we need to head back towards Watkins Glenn on Sunday. We'll figure it out sometime. Saturday is the White mountain ride, so that is when I would make the stop at the Brick Store.
