I'm thinking about making the trip, but haven't talked myself into it completely yet. As for what I'd like to get done, there's probably a lot I should get taken care of...some possibilities for me are:

FD oil change

Lube drive splines

TBS

New plugs (if doing TBS, I'll be in the neighborhood already so...)

air filter (AE, so some disassembly required)

There are likely other regular maintenance items I'm missing. I'm also just about at the point of needing to check the valve clearances, but that seems a big ticket item to do so far from home (esp. since I have a flight to catch for work on Monday). Mind you, I have minor mechanical knowledge, so for any of these items I'd need to rely on assistance from someone who's been there-done that. I also have basically none of my own tools for any of this (thinking mostly about the TBS).

I've never done a tech day before, and so far, this is the closest one, so I'd like to make it. I just need to get off the fence and make a decision...

Damn, I wanna join you all but that weekend doesn't work for me.

Hope the Geek needs more stuff to do to his bike and rallies the troops in the spring, then I should have time to come up.

Have we decided what we are going to try and bust up this time? Or is it just a "free for all"?
I wanna clean up a bunch of the rats nest of wiring on my bike.

Will prolly also bleed the brakes and clutch since I'm lazy and didn't go it tonight.

As for the spring, I'll probably be due for another valve check.

The Geek can provide all the testicle assistance you need, he's watched us enough and he's a expert.

What's and expert in Geek talk, you ask...... an EX is a has-been and a SPERT is a drip under pressure........

Something I can help with! At least I can help be productive on somebody's bike instead of looking like Geek V2.0. (Assuming Andy trust me 750*F stick next to his bike. )

I'll make sure to bring the soldering iron, solder, heat shrink, etc.

Bump....

One space left at the inn..

Well, I guess I'll get off the fence and commit...

Never attended one of these before, but I assume that I need to bring whatever is required for the maintenance I want to perform (oil, filters, spline lube, etc), correct? I don't have any tools to contribute, other than a low-end torque wrench that I've never used.

I'm sure the ladies won't mind making the half hour run to pick up Yamaha branded stuff if that's what you want to use. Otherwise just bring yourself and a sense of humor.

These things get a bit nutz when Andy and Tom get to drinkin and dancing.. Add Bill and Ray singing?

And, well you get the picture. ;)

Well, a picture IS worth a thousand words... :dribble: Not to worry, I always pack my sense of humor!

Unless someone needs me to bring my tire changer I will be leaving it back in the Great White North. If someone needs new rubber speak up now or forever hold your peace.

If you need new rubber it will be up to you to supply said new rubber and wheel weights for balancing.

You have been warned.

I'm on the fence due to family commitments. IF I do get the kitchen pass approved, I can bring a set of torque wrenches that will click at the same point each time... And an '09 service manual.

Hey, Bust, what's for dinner? I might have a venison roast to through in if that interests anyone.

Tech weekend V is in jeopardy of cancellation. Lack of commitment this close to the event is forcing me hand.

01000 Tuesday is the call off point. I can't see spending the $ to toss this event together if a dozen can't show.

BAH! The motorcycle gods are punishing me! I miss one tech day, and my bike has been farked since. Now I may not have a chance to rectify it?

Today has been nothing but bad news. Rear brake pads are toast, rear rubber is gone (I see cords! ), and I saw 4 FJRs today while in my truck among the other bikes on the road teasing me the rest of the day.

In all honesty, its not the end of the world. I was going to try and baby the tires through the end of the season so I didn't have to store it on brand new rubber. But that failed. The brake pads, even I should be able to do myself. And the cruise control works, well, most of the time. I can live with it until the spring tech day. Would that be Tech Day V if this gets canceled or Tech Day VI?
