Ummmmm chilli good. Says Homer. Name the place and time and I'll be there.
BTW, anybody been riding this week?
Thought about it, but 30s when leaving home and dark when coming home made me take the car (heated seats). I will be out this weekend though!

Got wrapped up and rode to work Wednesday. The ride home in sunshine made it totally enjoyable.

If you're going to Coral Castle, you gotta stop by Robert Is Here fruit stand. Have a mango smoothie.

Been looking at some of fljab and 101st destination suggestions. For me personally the 3-4 hour each way runs are doable in a day and anything very much longer say, Key West or Apalachicola, I would prefer a stopover at least one night as has already been said.

Sanibel, Pine Island, Captiva and West Palm Beach would all be good day rides, still have lots more suggestions to look at.

Just my personal thinking FWIW.

I agree with Steve, the faraway spots would mean spending the night. I'm good with that, as long as it's not 5 star resorts ($$$$). I don't think we will be doing those often, so shouldn't be an issue. There will be festivals coming up this time of year, so that's another option.

Also, we still could have an overnighter somewhere that isn't 100's of miles away, just to have a good time without worrying about the time factor.

I'm up for anything, as far as a destination, but we need to pick something for February....before it in the books. Time flies my friends!

Another really cool option is Cedar Key.

The motel prices are decent for a resort area. They have boat tours, unbelievable sunsets, and good eating establishments. A good night life.

Its not that far for the West coasters and Central Florida riders, so overnighters would be purely by choice. BUT…

… Wouldn't a group photo next to the Key West southern point marker be cool !!!

I am up for anything, but Key West is a must - sooner or later.

I'll get killed if I go to Key West solo, but swmbo doesn't like riding the FJR that far. What a dilemma. I'll be watching this thread intently.

I'm up for anywhere, but KW is always fun. I think if we look for a place that is not too close to Duval St. we can spend the night without breaking the bank. Easy enough to hop a cap for the night. I like the idea of setting up a distant meeting place, then letting riders coordinate with others as to how to meet for the ride down.

I'm in Central Florida, but might be interested in heading west towards Tampa and going south from there with some of those folks. Let's just do it before it warms up too much...I got baked a bit on the last trip there.

The cool thing about KW is you can pick a meet point in somewhere like Homestead, and let everyone do their own thing to there, then ride the rest of the way as a big group. Besides, it's not like from that point south you have to worry about folks "Riding their own ride" since the speed limits and cops take care of that.

Jim, sneak out in the middle of the night. I'm a firm believer that asking for forgiveness as waaaay easier than asking for permission. :)

I've been thinking about the KW trip, and the fact it's at least an overnighter. This is one that could/should take a little planning, to ensure everyone has allocated time to make it. I'm sure everyone is in agreement that this is a weekend trip? So with that in mind, what month should we do it? Winter is expensive and summer is Hades, so that would leave spring or fall. If spring, then how does late April or early May sound? If fall, then late October or early November? Just throwing something out there to see what sticks. I'm open to any/all thoughts on it. Either way, this would give us time to find and secure a place to stay, hopefully all together. Plus, I need some time to get YummYam into riding shape! :)

This doesn't preclude any other rides that we may come up with, just an idea for the KW trip.

Thoughts?
