Chuck, it's doable from Atlanta. Are we still talking only one overnight stay and head back the next day?
I'm off Sun and Mon every week. I can add a Fri and Sat (4 day weekend) for an event of this magnitude!

I'll actually be at loose ends in Fla March 15 and 16 (17th to get home) after my successful SS1000 in Jax.

I can go pretty much anytime but my FJR is apart right now. I can get it back together with a couple of days notice and no interruptions.

So, that said, get a consensus and we can meet someplace down the road. As said before, I stay on the Navy base (Trumbo) and can get in there pretty much anytime w/short notice unless it's a big event (like Fantasy Fest or New Yrs).

Rooms for youse guys usually the best rates are where US1 first comes on KW. There's several along there w/good rates. Dave aka Pale Rider - where did you and RZ stay the last time?

You don't want to know what I would have done to that lobster back in my drinking days.

so far I have bought a house and a bike with beer money

A drunk man would not stand a chance with our Lobsters !

I'm as flexible as can be. When ever the majority picks is fine with me. I'm thinking gathering in the homestead area is a good idea. It'll be fun cruising into the keys as a group.

I should be in Key West tomorrow, to get pictures of the Court House and Library. If any bodby is going to be there, It would be good to meet up.

OK, just remembered a place that I have stayed before.

Caribbean House Key West, Florida - Best Place to stay

I did the search for Saturday May 3rd … 133.88 w/ taxes for one night with 2 adults

It is a small motel like guesthouse. With a call well in advance, I think a group rate could be worked out.

It is walking distance from Duval street. They have 10 rooms… i think.

Go for it, Tony. See how many rooms they have available. I'm sure we can fill them up. I'm in. It's cheaper than the one I picked out. :)

The last time I checked rooms were a lot cheaper just north of Key West. I'll gladly drive 20 or 30 miles to cut room cost in half.

I'd also gladly share a room to cut it in half again ;)

Good idea, Chuck. It's all good. Where there's a will, there's a way! Either way, it's going to be fun. The weekend of May 2nd looks good. :)

After going to Duval Street, a ride 20-30 miles away could be very expensive. The LEOs are in full force along US 1. A motel close by will save you parking money and allow

you to walk to and from the establishments without any problems. There is a camp grounds that I have stayed at way up the road, but they are costly too.

A room share should run less than $70 per. I will see what I can do about pricing AFTER we choose a time block that we want.

My plans would be to start my ride out of West Palm Beach about 3 am Saturday, catching the sunrise on the 7 mile bridge, getting a picture of the Lobster and fish on the way down.

I will probably do breakfast on the way down also, since Key West doesn't seem to awaken early after a Friday night of festivities. Have a full day of activities Saturday (Including a picture

at the marker) , an overnight stay in Key West, with a breakfast at the place nearby. I will return Sunday Evening (Most Likely)

Remember, the farther out you stay to save money, the more you'll have to pay to get to Duval St. I wouldn't suggest taking your bikes down there for multiple reasons, but of course do as you wish.

I know when my wife & I travel, we try to get the best deal we can, but also look to be in the middle of things as it's so much more convenient and IMO that's worth something.

The first weekend in May works for me.

Tony, checked this website, and they show a 2 night minimum, which wouldn't be an issue for me as the cost is reasonable. For that I would either take a Friday or Monday off, which would also make it easier to recoup from the festivities. ;)

Vic,

I am in negotiations with the wife now, but if we could host some riders on Friday night it would give the westerners and northerners a chance to stage (Rest) here before heading south.

Then we could leave out being just 4 hours north of Key West. Trust me on the departure time- No traffic, glimmering water on both sides of the road in the moonlight, then a sunrise while

crossing the 7 mile bridge, breakfast and an early arrival into Key West (Before the lines appear at the marker) IMO just can't be topped.

It will give a full day of site seeing and the mandatory decal purchases for the bikes, then a night on Duval. There are some nice breakfast joints near the hotel also for Sunday am.

If anyone has gone to or from Key West in traffic, you will appreciate the early ride down. Bumper to bumper on US 1 just plain sucks, Not to mention the temperature factor. Early May

can be HOT at low speeds.

Dog gone- there will be no moon that weekend…Hmmm?

But mid April it will be FULL.

I can do that. I've got three bedrooms that people can crash in. Not a problem. I just have to hire a cleaning crew to tidy the place up a little. That would be ME!! Lol

I'm up for the early take off. It'll be worth it. I took off at 3am to get to a shuttle launch and it didn't kill me! :)

Would mid-April still be in Spring Break season?

Also, no moon would mean you could see stars from horizon-to-horizon. Just thinking aloud.

Very good points - we do NOT want a spring break appearance, OK before I call the motel let me get some opinions;

Who is interested?

What chance is there that you will make it?

What time is best for you?

Are you riding 2 up or solo?

What would your plans be for the trip? (My wife has given the OK for staging here, and Vic has offered too) So… that is an option.

I need responses to get an idea… Maybe we will start a"Key West Ride" thread (?)
