I am booked. I have read about this trip the last couple of years and am looking forward to going. Thanks for making the arrangements.
Sounds great Jerry, very glad you can make this trip. Death Valley is truly an awesome moto ride adventure and these AZB/FJR folks are fun to party with, we always have a ton of laughs and yaks!

Yes it will be a day ride Bill.......

Don as far as leading rides thats fine with me but our rides this year are gonna be a little different.......as in The E.T. highway loop for one, As Bill said we are planning a day ride to LV and who knows what else i will come up with.

There are only so many times you can go and look at Scotty's shack......

R
Understood Fairlaner, as many times as we two have ridden Death Valley, a lot of the spots have become "old hat"! Set whatever rides you prefer and folks will join them.

I am going to print up ride packets for the new to Death Valley National Park visitors, complete with maps and route suggestions, and will distribute them. It's dirt for me!

Iam ready to go back in time again for the 3rd year in a row, booked my room at the world famous Longstreet 15-18 March 12, and I am riding the GS look out dirt

Steve
Great News Steve, very glad to hear that you are aboard! Are you going to be at the two wheeled cluster **** at Neil's house in Vista this upcoming Saturday?
Don great to hear from you, its Justins Birthday and he is playing his sax in the schools marching band in a parade, cant be there but Iam looking forward to riding some dirt in Death valley with the OLD FARTS in March but before that I hope we can start locking down our June/July adventure.

Steve
Howdy Steve, only item I see as critical for our NAFO / CFR / Alaska trek is making a secure reservation for the 4 of us and our 2 motos aboard the British Columbia ferry sailing between Prince Rupert and Port Hardy on Vancouver Island. We can do this in January! Naturally, the minute that FJRGuy - Jeff sets up the NAFO / CFR 2012 web site we want to get our deposits in there and our rooms reserved at the host hotel. Then coordinate with our Bodacious Barb regarding Campbell River, B.C.!

https://www.nps.gov/deva/planyourvisit/upload/Backcountry%20Roads-2.pdf Hey Dirt Donks: To whet your appetites, here is the Death Valley Backcountry Roads Map! You can zoom in for a closer view.
Don cool map, which route are the old fart taking, I will most likely go on one of the Dirt rides with you guys and some of the Street rides with Sir R and the gang because i think they have some new stuff planned this year

Steve
Steve-O: All of the dirt bike routes are being laid out by our El Jefe-Brad "UberKul"! Consider Brad as The Cisco Kid and I'm just Pancho. If we need to break up the group into sections for safety control, I'll take the slower (meaning older!) and senile gaggle of dirt riders.

I have three routes mapped out that I'm still tweaking. Day one stays on the east side of the park with Hole in the Wall, Inyo Mine, Chloride City/Cliff and Ryolite. A quick swing in for gas at Furnace Creek for the small tank guys on that one. Day two hits Titus Canyon and Aguereberry Point with a gas stop in Stovepipe for gas if needed. Both under 200 mile days. I have been playing with a big west side loop that leaves the park through Mengel Pass but would put that in big-dog-hard-man category. If someone is interested in that let me know because you might be leading that ride. :D

Ok, Room booked at Longstreet Inn & Casino. The gal on the phone said: "Don's not much to look at, but he can go all night long", what ever that means?

Two more big trailies in the mix, Super Tenere for me, F650GS for the wife. We're most certainly in the dirt donks crowd and will follow Don Stanley. Better entertainment for all! :yahoo:

Tires - I'm really happy with the Heidenau K60 Scouts and have 9k on my first set. Not as agressive as some of the more dirt oriented tires, but they do last on pavement as well as on dirt and dig pretty good for a 50/50 tire. I have a set for Cletha's GS and will have a fresh set for FODS.

If you want the K60s and can't find them, Ride On ADV is a good vendor in TX. I'm very happy with their pricing and shipping speed and Jaxon is a good guy that rides a Tenere too.

This is great news Cletha and Eric, very glad that you can attend! I still like the Continental TKC 80's on "Salma Hayek", my 2009 BMW F650GS Twin. But, a lot of AZ Beemers are also running the Heidenau K60 Scouts too. And, so very glad to hear that Monica and Marybelle of the Longstreet are still giving me such a solid endorsement!

Was finally able book after my daughter Erin found out her class schedule. :yahoo:

I'm thinking I'll go big with a banner AND stickers this year!

What's next, guest speakers and buffet dinners...not!

Incommunicado the next four days, camping on the coast. :shades:

Just a reminder, when you book a room at the Longstreet Inn you will receive a five digit confirmation number, such as 735XX. Marybel Contreras and Monica Chavez basically run the Inn portion of the Longstreet by themselves, so they may forget to give you the number or will have to e-mail it to you late; please get that conf. #!

Just booked a room for my son and I. We'll be piloting DRZ400S models with soon to be ordered long range fuel tanks. Running stock gearing and barely legal DOT knobbies so we'll sound like a 4WD on pavement, but have a blast on the gravel sections. Looking forward to checking out "Salma Hayek", and not worried a bit about her wearing Conti TKC 80s, she can make anything look great!

I have the IMS 4 gallon tank on my DRZ and I am getting 225 miles out of it. What tanks are you looking at?

As for tires I just put a Dunlop D606 on the back and a Pirelli XCHM up front. I have 550 Baja miles on the tires so far with some street and they are hooking up pretty good in the loose stuff. I was running the Dunlops D952 non DOT before these and liked those alot but wanted to go with the DOT tires this time.

A pic of my tanker tank

Great minds think alike! My son and I are also running the same rear and have a Pirelli MT21 RallyCross up front and have no handling complaints so far. I'm going with a Clarke 3.9 gal which comes in Zuki' blue to help blend in with the bike.

https://www.bmwmoa.org/forum/showthread.php?t=55958 My preferred offroad dirt tire for my BMW GS's (either R11GS or F650GS) are the Continental TKC 80's; my favorite Knobbies!

There currently is a thread underway at BMW Motorcycle Owners of America Forum regarding the cheapest place, with the fastest service, to buy these Conti TKC 80's!
