rushes, you should not talk like that about your KLR.

It may hear you and give you problems in Mexico.

Besides KLR"s are not POS. Just ask Shinny or me.

I love my KLR but will not be taking it to Mexico, to top heavy for me.

DRZ 400 for this trip.

Works the opposite for me. Bragin' on a bike being dependable will get ya stranded...

I carry a AAA card as a good luck charm. Personally, I love my KLR but still call her an ugly bug-eyed pig when she naps. She is La Poderosa Diabla when she behaves. Typical female...

OK, I gotta share this...

I ordered crash bars last week, and they were in a train wreck between Cleveland and Chicago on the way. (I didn't know UPS used rail..?)

Anyway they arrived today in perfect shape! (the box was a bit tattered...)

I'm feelin' good about these bars. Crash tested I reckon!!

:)

Carry on...

:haha:
That has GOT to be the most bizarre story I've ever heard. But it also has GOT to be a sign of good luck.

Them must be tough mofo's. What did you get?

https://www.azbeemers.org/forum/index.php?t...g19023#msg19023 I thought my fellow Copper Canyon trekkers would enjoy seeing Brian "El Jefe" Boles riding Valley of the Gods, Hell's Backbone and Escalante Staircase. He has his BMW F800GS fully outfitted for our Mexico trip and this was his shakedown ride. Great off roading on wicked Utah trails! What do you think of sandstone ledge ascent???

You're KILLIN' me here!

(After my PNW excursion, I'm POSITIVELY coming home and planning Utah again. THIS year!

Gotta catch a sunrise in Monument Valley, too.)

Thank you, BeemerDaddy!! Ya bastard.

Now that looks like a fun and challenging ride! :yahoo:

Hey Rushes and FjrRider,

The trip to OKC (without any detours) is about 2K miles round trip, Unfortunately since it's such a long trip running my normal combo of Dunlops D606/D908 isn't going to work for this (luckly to get 3K miles out of a set!) So for longevity I'm going to swap them out to the OEM Scorpions:

I don't recall the Scorps being bad tires, just not much grip in the mud. Anyway, I'm just hoping I will be able to l hang with you guys with these Pirelli "simulated" knobby installed. :dribble:

Not much mud around here in August. I'm not sure what Scott is thinking, but I'm too fat and out of shape to be riding anything too difficult for that tire. :)

Oklahoma in August, we would be hard pressed to even find any mud!

Rocks now thats a different story, rocks are in great abundance in eastern Oklahoma, you know the deeply embedded kind, the kind that dont move!

When are you gonna be in OK. Chris? I will be DS'ing in Colorado the last week of July and the last week of August (I love riding out there)

Rocks hopefully won't be a problem, especially if they don't move much. :D

The tentative plan was to stop on my way back home in Texarkansas the evening of 8/12. Stay for a few days (ride Fri/Sat and leave Sun?) in which to do some DS riding with you guys. Of course, that is if your all still up for it? Let me know either way.

I will say I'm jealous, I wish I could get out to CO for some riding. Have fun out there!

As far as I know right now, I'll be around.

Planned spontaneity... :)

Chris and Rushes

This I would suggest....Alma is almost exactly the same distance from Mena as Texarkana is....so we meet Chris in Mena, get a hotel room for Thursday, Friday and Saturday night (or whatever)

Ride Wolfpen Gap on Friday before all the ATV's get there for the weekend, then on Saturday take the K-trail over to Clayton OK. and then take the Talimena scenic drive back to Mena....(thats an all day ride right there) We would want to get an early start on the K-trail, its about 70 miles to Clayton and the last 40 are very interesting. From Clayton back to Mena is all highway and quite scenic and a welcome reprieve from the rocky K-trail

Check this out https://www.twtex.com/forums/showthread.php...ghlight=k-trail theres some guys riding the K-trail and a couple of BMW 800's are in there.

Sounds good!

I sent a PM to Chris, You are the man... If things don't work out we can plunk around in Mill Creek....

That sounds like a great plan. I won't be able to get to Mena until Thurs evening, but I will be ready to ride on Friday morning. The K-trail looks like its going be a good challenge on the Big O Gurl. B) Which I'm looking forward to just as long as the beast can get me back to GA when we're done.
