Outstanding, rickcorwn; Thank you very much! Class, you need to copy this and put it in your tank bag. When I return from Oregon - BMW Rally and WFO in Eureka, California: I will be copying a mechanical cheat sheet that Clement Salvadori of Rider Mag. gave me.

Copper Canyon Class and Wheaties daughter: Here are thirty more phrases for you to learn, in addition to the first thirty I gave you (unless you own a dogs ass slow GEN II FJR and only need 29):
Excuse me./Pardon me. Perdone/Disculpe.
Those are all good but what if you need a vise grips or a master link

Here's a list of Mexican Moto words.

Very good!

But I didn't see angle iron listed.. :)

ferro angulo...?

Don't be too surprised if some is offered/used to fix your broken bike in rural Mexico by the "mecanico"/"maestro". Rural welders/repair shops in Mexico are, generally, very resourceful.
I reckon!

I was pokin Rick about his trip to MX...

Great report

One of his buddies on a KLR, busted a shock....

Fun read BTW. Pour ya a drink, (or 10) and enjoy....

Is there any freaking person in the world that rides a motorcycle the you don't know?

P.S. Too many words and phrases for me to remember. I'll hire a bilingual puta as a translator. Should work...

Shiny, I had told you that story up in Moscow for WFO. I lived with my first wife Judy at 7505 Curbaril Avenue in Atascadero, California. Clement and his wife Sue lived at the far end of Curbaril north of Highway 101. I was always running into Mr. Salvadori at the P.O., Safeway Store and Hayward Lumber. We would always get to yakking about motorcycles. Truly is my favorite Moto Journalist!!!

I remembered. But I'm jealous. So there.... <_<

His writing fired my imagination and was a driving force in me learning to ride a moto.

Well I looked at all those spanish words :dribble: and I think I will stick to learning the Arkansawian language first.

On my next days off (this Mon/Tues) I will be doing some MEGA work on the Big Gurl in preparation to visiting this foreign Arkansas land mass in August. Good thing I will have Rushes and Scott as my most excellent tour guide. :yahoo:

Here's all the work that I need to accomplish:

-Adding a cooling fan

-Checking the valves

-Adding a heavy duty top case

-Checking the clutch oil spray jet

-New chain and sprockets (sticking to 16/42)

-Changing the Anti-freeze

-Changing the tires (I'm going to feel naked without my full knobbies :dribble: )

-Removing and bypassing all the emission crap

-Changing Radiator grill

-Changing the oil.

-Changing the spark plugs

-Paint my crash bars (I just can't understand why they're so scratched up <_< )

Now if this was Shiny doing the work, he would be hard core and only use the tools that are provided with the bike!

Yup, then after working on the bike I'd trailer it to the mechanic to fix my F-ups. :D

I still have to put the aluminum grill cover on to replace the POS plastic one. And lube the chain and some general maintenance. But mostly I have to work overtime to pay for this adventure.

Oh yeah! First I have to prep for papa chuy's visit by finding burros for him! Where the hack am I going to find burros for that hombre with the requisite height and weight requirements?

How do you say "busy" in Arkansan anyway?

A 16/42 thats pretty tall, my 530 came with 15/45 and I've changed it to a 14/50, then again your actual gearing maybe lower.

I have done the full desmog on mine

Changed the jetting (JD jetting)

Bypassed (removed) the thermostat

Installed Samco hoses and I'm now running Evans NPGR coolant

Rotor Guard, Skid plate, Radiator Guards, Bark Busters.

Steering Stabilizer (GPR)

HD Bridgestone tubes

TM Design chain guides and slide

DID Chain and Renthal Sprockets

Added 3.5 gallon tank

Now I'm gonna ride the snot out of it to get prepped for the rushes/ChrisD showdown

Since this thread is primarily about riding Mexico's Copper Canyon and secondarily about the incredible foods of Mexico, Papa Chuy wants to give a hearty endorsement to the newest Salsas available from AZ Beemers Member, and good friend of The FJR Forum, Martin Osete. As many of you know, many of us have ridden deep into Mexico with Martin over the last five years. Here is his newest website for his latest product line: https://www.misalsa7.com When I return from the BMW Rally in Redmond, Oregon I will host a Ride to Eat and Eat to Ride at Buffalo Wild Wings in Gilbert. I will bring along all of Martin's new salsas and we will test drive them on fresh tortilla chips.

I have also extended an invitation to Martin, and his son Manuel, to join us on our upcoming November trek through Barrancas del Cobre: Chihuahua to the Sea!!

"Good Morning Martin,

Fantastic to hear from you! Please note our new address and phone number below, Seth and I moved out of our tiny little house to one two times bigger; we each have a bathroom and two extra bedrooms. We leave for Oregon this Monday, but as soon as we get back: Let's all get together for laughter and conversation. Missed you buddy!

Copied this to Brian "El Jefe" and Melanie "La Reina" Boles; and on to SkooterG and GS Jane; we all still ride together, including Mexico, and we always miss riding with you.

A number of riders from www.fjrforum.com and www.azbeemers.org are riding both ways through Copper Canyon in November with Skip Mascorro of Moto-Discovery Tours.

There is still one opening for this expedition trip, I will send you the links in a separate post; If your son Manuel also wanted to ride along, Skip would expand our group size.

I have also copied this on to Seamus MacTreinfhir, The Irish Ambassador to Mexico, We Stanley Boys will see Seamus next Thursday 7/15 at the BMW Rally in Redmond.

Greg "SkootyG" Marbach and I had lunch with "Crazey Davey" Cooleyman in May, he always asks about you. Same with Dr. Bob Flanders and all of the rest of AZ Beemers.

I'll order up some of your salsas, I'm sure they'll be magnificent. I'll also promote them on our Copper Canyon - Creel to Los Mochis - FJR and BMW Riding Posts/Threads.

Dating a wonderful Lady named Donna these days and have fallen in Love. Life is good, even at 61 years of age, when you can find a fine Woman to fall in love with: Happy!

Is there a list somewheres?

Not that it matters, really...

What did you say?
Russ, I will be having a beer with Skip Mascorro and Frank "Pancho" Cummings of Moto-Discovery on Thursday night at the beer tent at the BMW MOA International Rally in Redmond, Oregon.

Actually, I'll be having beers three nights in a row with Skip and Pancho. I'll ask them to give me the full/complete list, not quite sure if Martin y Manuel Osete of Hermosillo, Mexico have signed up!
