+1, Gunny! And mi Salma Hayek has new Continental TKC-80's front and year, new 15 tooth countershaft sprocket, new drive chain, new rear stock sprocket, small fly screen and fresh oil/filter change. Tucson Joe and I are meeting at his Reserve, New Mexico mountain cabin on the Continental Divide this weekend to practice our Herradura Tequila and Tecate drinking; Joe's wife Cec and my gal Donna will be there to watch over us old fools!
You guys are practicing your Tequila and Cerveza consumption, aren't you? This's just as important as line sets for single track or river crossings!

I have my spare tube (front) which in an emergency can be used in the rear. The reverse is not true. It is not possible to fit a 18" tube into a 21" tire unless someone has changed the rules of geometry since I left school.
I have a good set of tire spoons and CO2 cartridges for fixing flats not that I expect any since I run extra heavy duty tubes in my DOT Knobbies (Trackmaster on the back and a Perelli M21 up front. Extra spark plug and the tools to install it (You have to take the tank off to get at the plug :angry03: )
I'll be backpacking the Nikon and will have the ContourHD 1080p helmet cam to document the carnage. I can also bring along my 100ft extention cord so that Don can use his radio

Those of us from the Great White North are well versed in the Cerveza consumption. After 45 years of experience I think I've pretty much got the hang of it and don't require the practise but I treat Tequila as basically liquid drugs.

For tires I'm running for the 2nd time Dunlop's D908 Rally Raid's. I ran these for 6 days in Colorado around the Ouray area, I would say there is still half the life left in them. I'm putting on new ones for Mexico. The D908RR's are a PIA to get on, and have very stiff sidewalls. They dont provide motocross tire type traction, but they wear like iron. If they hold up for 2 weeks, like I think they will, I will for sure have a new favorite dual sport tire!
I too am bringing mt Contour HD 1080P. I think I have a 200ft extension cord, so your in luck Don, now you can listen to your radio and your 8 track player! :yahoo:

Crap I just pinched another front tube. :banghead: I seem to be getting pretty darn good at changing my front tire in the field! I was crossing this stream that someone through old pieces of sidewalk in. As I started to cross I managed get the front tire stuck between two of these pieces causing the front wheel to stop instantly and making me fly into the stream. :worriedsmiley:I carry a 21" tube on the front fender as well. OBTAIN YOUR VEHICLE PERMITS NOW!
We want to advise you of an opportunity that will serve all of us well; the ability to obtain on line your vehicle entry permit.
This is a time consuming process. We can save a couple of critical hours our first day into Mexico if you will go on line, apply and pay for your Temporary Import Permit.

Please accomplish this as soon as possible as you will want to allow enough time to order the permit and get it back to you before you depart for El Paso. Go to this link. Again we encourage you to pack light. Exposure to colder temperatures is going to be the first morning in Mexico. All other times one can expect warmer temperatures s we make our way to lower elevations and to the Sea of Cortez.
RIDING OR TRAILERING?
This tour is unique in that for the first time we will be trailering bikes to our launching point in Creel. This concept was designed to permit smaller and more off road oriented machines to avoid having to ride hundreds of miles on pavement. If you do not wish to trailer and prefer to ride with the convoy, that is fine with us. We will be a little tight on space on the trailers and the confines of the passenger van(s) may make this an inviting option. If you prefer to ride rather than trailer/van, then please let us know in the coming days.
SPOT TRACKER 2
We will have at least two Spot Tracker 2 GPS signaling devices on this tour. For those who may not be familiar with this technology, those whom you select, will be able to monitor your position on a satellite image map every ten minutes! If you know of anyone in your family whom you would like to keep informed of your where abouts, please send via a separate e-mail to [email protected] the e-mail addresses of those you want to have following your travels. Mark SUBJECT LINE of your e-mail as GPS TRACKER REQUEST EXPLORER.
There is a caveat to this, and that is your family and friends should be aware that circumstances such as technology failures, dead batteries and other external forces may cause a temporary lapse in the signaling. Don't panic! We certainly don't want something that could be a useful and fun tool to create unnecessary anxieties. Make this absolutely clear to all who may be on the monitoring list.
