It's funny how this thread has gone from weird road safety to road cuisine.

OK, granted ......Bambi's a *****........ therefore we will eat her.

We will eat Bambi because she's a *****. Logical ?

Never had any roadkill as a snack food (Baja tacos?) but I understand

Jed Clampett's always askin' Granny for the makin's of a good opossum stew.

The big guy had your 6 my friend - it wasn't your day to die...

Had a friend in town last week from New Jersey. She has had 5 deer strikes with her car in the last 18 months. Two of them ran into her side doors - one after she had come to a complete stop! It must be time to raise the hunting limits on these damn forest rats.

So glad that you're OK - as others have said, machines can be repaired/replaced. Sylvia says hi too.

C'mon boys and girls! You need to start bowhunting to put the brakes to these stories. I'm tellin' you with the attitude of a motorcyclist bow and arrow is that next great Zen adventure. Season started here Saturday 9/30. As always

Just got news the insurance company plans to rebuild, not replace. $6,600 estimate. Kind of suprises me, but then again the instrument cluster/windshield still work. My bet is that if they required replacement, it wouldn't have been so good. Forks are straight, frame looks OK so they say.

In a way, I'm glad they are fixing ol Crzy8. The black 08 color and my dirt road.. but having all new parts and pieces would have been nice. And this way I can keep the Rifle screen (not damaged) the Smitty installed CC, etc. Then again it needs a new Penske. On the other side, I can now EASILY wire up the Solteks!

Will be talking to the the tech mananaa to discuss what and how each item was checked..

They can rebuild it. It will be better, stronger, faster.

Gentlemen, we are about to create the world's first bionic bike....

DCarver,

Glad to hear the good news. That was a close one as far as estimates go, I am sure if the ignition switch was bad, it would have been totalled......

May your recovery be quick and glad you are OK. When I hit a deer, I was walking like Uncle Festus for a few weeks.

Carver,

Just signed on and saw your news. Good work.... really glad your OK.

I too feel like the MX experience really helps in preperation for mishaps as they are so frequent off road.

Again, really glad you're well.

After reading your story and looking at the front of your bike I was reminded of an old deer strike video. So, here is the link.

It seems he also avoided the brakes during impact and had the mindset to just ride the bike.

Sorry to hear that you hit one of those bambies, but glad you were able to walk away and get some rather interesting photos of that little _____ with the Yamaha necktie!

Even the dogs got a chance to lick some of the little f'er off your ride.....

Good luck getting back on the road again.

Cool! Can you reduce costs by ordering parts from umotors and end up with a few bucks in your pocket?

I'm sure he could, if he wanted to install them himself, but it's bonin' the dealership any other way.

Is there a BikeFax to track crash history?

I may end asking if I can buy enough parts from Umotors for cheap to cover the 500 deductible then let the shop have the rest. Sure would be nice if I didn't have to cough up the 500 bones.

Buy the parts from Umotors. Give me a call when they get in. Been a while since I attended a Tupperware party! ;)

Damn Don! That really screwed the morning ride. What a great job on staying with the bike and maintaining control.

I am sorry for your temporary loss. After the repair she'll be better than ever. How long will she be out of service?

Estimate now at 7k. Insurance adjuster says bike is worth 11k, 7k is less than >70% damage to value ratio, so it's a fixeRupper. Always wondered what the ratio was to exceed the threshold.

The shop is good with me bringing Crzy8 home for me to install HID wiring, aux switch, and finally brackets and HID, so that's cool. Looks like I get new forks, inst cluster and a bunch o' other parts. Supposedly I have a fax waiting at the house with the repair list.

Wholly cow DC, I thought an 05 would be only be worth around 6-7 k. I am keeping my full coverage on my 05 for a

while longer

Good luck with the rebuild. Are you able to salvage any parts from the bike with out the inssuance company

complaining?
