Another cool thing happen. My daughter, which is 10 and one of the coolest kids around was cuddling with me this weekend and for the hell of it, I asked her "Do you think I should get another bike and ride again?". She turned to me with the weirdest look on her face and said "Why are you asking me that? Of course you should, dad. You never give up. Besides, who else am I gonna ride with?" I honestly started crying. I love this kid!

Geeze, wonderful, and my screen immediately went blurry

I sent the first payment representing all donations made through this weekend.
Thanks to all who participated, this effort raised just over $3300, which I know will help Carl and Jonnie get through a very trying recovery.

The Forum again humbles me with its generosity.

A report has been sent to escapefjrtist for independent verification should anyone have questions about their donations.
Sorry for the late update folks...I've been out of pocket this weekend with my sons 15th birthday. Received the email from Hudson with the totals, you guys and gals are something special and this forum ROCKS. Thanks so much for the support and generosity in these tough times. I know it's not always easy...

So glad to hear that Carl is healing up and is able to keep us updated on his progress. Hang in there buddy!

It's been a rough summer for the forum, lets be careful out there.

More updates. So it's more for the same hobbling around with a walker and the Left leg is still mostly useless. The bottom of my left foot is almost completely numb and so is from my upper left hip down to my knee on the outside of the leg. It feels like a big slab of meat with no feeling just hanging there when I touch it. Saw the DR with my spine and she said the fracture is still very evident and to keep wearing the brace. duuuuhhhhh

Now for the bike. Well It started up. It sounds like one of the plugs is not working but other then that, was running good. I checked the tires, because on the police report the cop said that the tires were completely bald with steal belts showing. BULL SHIXX The tires were starting to get down, but in no way bald and sure as **** no belts showing. I would never ride like that. Why would I ride like that when Auburnfjr has a good pair of PR2s sitting for me. Ya, I don't think so. This cop is really pissing me off. Dunno if I said before, but this is what he is saying. He measured my skid mark at about 60 feet, My buddy measured the same marks the same day and measured about 40 feet. He said that on impact the speedo froze at 60 and tach froze at 6000. and from "his experiance" the stop on impact. My brother called Yamaha and they said that they do not design them that way and they stop wherever. Cop also said that the geared my bike down 4 or 5 gears to neutral. So in one of those gears at that RPM I would have been doing like 110+. :chickawow:

Carl

Wow just read your report and information abot what the cop said. I believe I would get my lawyer to write a letter of stuppidity for his personel file to show how well trained that officer is and how he performs his duties. If it is a reck between a car and a motorcycle it must be the bikes fault, right ? That what the training manual says

7 weeks tomorrow- look how far he has come! Today both wrist casts and the external pelvic fixator were removed! Jim and I were both jubilant as he lay in the bed with nothing on but a gown and a few pieces of dressings and steri-strips. What a load off. He did have the leg brace and foot boot put back on, but that is just for a couple more weeks. Hope to be able to bear weight on the right leg in about 3 weeks. The dr put a shrink sock his left leg stump. It is my understanding that this is for the rest of his life. Every day, all the time unless bathing. It is to keep edema (fluids) from building up in the "residual limb".

Kidneys were also given a clean bill of health. Back to normal! They have called him the "poster boy" of returning kidney function. Plan is that he doesn't have to go back to the hospital for appointments for about 4 weeks. Now he can do much more in the rehab in Issaquah. Praise God for a great day!

Update on visiting hours: You can drop by anytime, but preferable not between 2:00p and 6:00p on weekdays. During this time Jim will be doing PT, OT, and eating a well deserved dinner! Weekends are wide open and a great time to visit as well. Sept. 1 Jim takes an ambulance ride back to Harborview for some appointments so he won't be around for much of that day. Prayers are appreciated for continued recovery and good news from the doctors.

Today Jim was in a semi-reclining wheelchair. I took him for a spin outside and showed him his room from the other side of the window. The plan is to do 2 hours a day of rehab Mon-Fri. Not sure if they do anything on the weekend. Their goal is to get him out of there as soon as possible. No, it is not because they are tired of him! He is making friends with the staff and met another man there who has a below knee amputation. This guy wants him to be up and moving so they can work out together. Hope that happens pretty soon!

Jim is not Carl (n2osx) -

A shout out to the terrific folks attending SW-FOG and to Bustanut Joker, who made his nice plaques for SW FOG. The crew auctioned it off at the banquet with all proceeds going to help out Carl with the bill's. They raised $300!

Busta, nice work, and the same to Greg and the others who were so kind to think of Carl.

You guys are the best. Dave, George, thank so very much. And thanks to anyone else that helped even by just praying for me. There will be a letter from my mother typed up on here very soon, because she wants to say a few woords of thanks.

Carl

Glad to hear you up and about Carl. Sure hope that you and Jonnie can make dinner on Saturday so we can give you some grief in person ;) Heal up fast and see you soon.

I checked it yesterday and on my 06 with windscreen up, side bags and top case on, I was 117mph at 6000 in 5th.

First of all I believe your assesment without question but I would certainly like to hear this cops reasoning on the "bald" comment. I have never heard of any other reason for having tread on a tire except to channel water away and prevent hydoplaning. If the road was dry, no cords showing and the tires properly inflated I don't see his point. I bet he didn't check air pressure (why did this professional not check that if he is bothering to comment on other variables) There are only 4 gears above neutral so if those were the cops words literally that is a little lame since the facts matter. If there is damage to the shifter I would question his assesment further. Every bike's 60 to 0 distance is printed somewhere in a test. If you were at 40-60 feet stopping you can do the math and see if it confirms what you think you were doing speedwise. I think you can debunk this guys comments pretty easily if you need to.

I'm curious about the other driver, gender, age, what kind of vehicle. Was there a passenger in the car? Where they turning left from a center lane across your path? If so I'm sure they were way past the white line they were suppose to be at.
