Karstenp, I've now got a whopping 600 miles on my GMAX and I am very happy with it. The changes in handling are much less pronounced than I had anticipated. In normal riding, including pushing it to about 80% in corners, it is much like a bike tire. I'm running 32 PSI.

Gee whiz, John!!! Those many long and lonely sea cruises with only your bunk mate for comfort have had their effects it seems.

Just ordered Carmines Brake Bar, and GMax Tire today! My friends told me I had to wait until I had a couple miles under my newbie belt before I darksided, I will have at least 5,000-5,500 before products ordered today get here. Hope that is enough!

Really, you only need one to two miles before you make that change.....just far enough to get from the shop you bought the bike from to your house to get the rear off and drive it to another shop to change the tyre out.

Just wondering has anyone ever taken an MSF Safety course with a car tire? I am set up to get my car tire friday, but I may have to hold off installation until I take the class towards the end of the month.

I'd hold off. There is no issue with the handling, but the MSF folks might not be open minded enough to just let you ride.

When my daughter took motorcycle safety course (required by law in Fla. for a newbie to get a cycle license), they provided the bike to ride... a Honda 250 Rebel.

Not sure if this applies???

You have a choice at most some classroom locations. I took my MSF course on my Vstar 950.

I think it depends on what class you are taking. All the beginner MSF classes I've seen are on provided bikes, nearly always 250s, often a couple different styles. For the rest of the classes, intermediate to advanced, it's your own bike. I'd be surprised that they wouldn't balk at a rider w/o a license/endorsement coming to the class on their own bike, never mind the potential liability issues. But no doubt states vary.

Actually I have an endorsement, I have already completed the Basic Rider course, and am now going back for Basic Rider Course #2, which is on my own motorcycle. I am also allowed to bring a passenger for this class.

Gonna need to replace the exalto sometime in the future. Anyone here run the exalto and compare it to the Gmax? Just curious.

30k and 35k on my last 2 Gmax's. 30k had a chunk out of the sidewall, 35k still had a bit more, but a "higher speed" was desirable w/o a wobble for a certain outing

Gmax on order, going to try this out. Probably won't mount it until Mid-june sometime. Planning a cross-country trip in the end of June, 2-up, towing a trailer. I'm kind of thinking of looking for a spare rear wheel first, maybe just use the CT when on trips. I'll have to see how it feels first then go from there.

Ran a CT on the Wing for a while (DS #580 on Murgie's list).. and now decided to wander to the dark side on the FJR. Had a Shinko on the bike (that's what was on it when I got it - and I won't repeat what I started calling it).

Some tire porn for your viewing pleasure.

Lots o' rubber there.

I'm darkside #1420 on Murgie's list with my Hippo. Going to try a Bridgestone Driveguard RF for a change from the 2nd Alpin. Went DBL dark last fall.
