The four cylinder FJR motor while powerfull and smooth has no "character/good vibrations" --say like any V-twin (SV650, Ducati, Moto Guzzi, Aprila, Harley). If you have riden any of these you'll know what I mean. If you have never owned a motorcycle with a v-twin engine you won't understand.
Hmmmm. When I'm riding, I'm the character, and that's all the character this bike/rider combo needs!

I have an '04, non abs. previously had a beemer R1100RT. The FJR is a totally awesome ride. every time I start it I get in the mood for a fun, fast, exciting ride. It corners great for a big bike, stops great, and the fun handle is attached to really awesome power for passing, getting up to speed for highway get ons, and any other use you might have for some serious go go.

It does get hot between the legs on 90 degree days, but there are easy fixes available on the forum pages that make a huge difference for a few bucks and maybe two hours of time. You will never regret having an FJR in your stable for a top notch one or two up tourer that just eats up big miles. ENJOY.....VT B)

What high speed gear are you suppose to wear on the 05, eg. SHOEI, ARAI, JOE ROCKET, etc?

...and

Which oil would be okay in the 06 since it won't go as fast? :arrowhead:

HeHeHe! I'm very hard to kill! :hyper:

Make that +3. I've owned V-twins and ridden others...I'll take the smooth, formula-car-like acceleration of a well built inline 4 over the coarse thrum of a v-twin any day. I love the sound of a Ducati with big boom cans, but not the ride. Thanks anyway.

Mine didn't come with the "Summers Off" package for that "extra riding pleasure". :(

Consequently, it's proven to be great commuter. Being that I naturally gravitate toward 85mph when I'm not payin' attention, and, that speeding tickets wreak havoc on my CDL, I do wish it came with a cruise control.
