Always loved the upstate and WNC area. I live in Inman SC and was raised in Hendersonville. Its painful going to work as I have to look right at those awesome mountains and a voice whispers in my ear every time .."you don't need to go to no stinkin work man, go for a ride in those hills". FYI side street pizza in Tryon is good eats and papas breakfast nook in Spartanburg is good too for morning grub, and dot forget if your downtown Greenville stop and sample the shine at Dark Corner Distillery.

Been to Papas many times. The one thing that blows my mind though is that they DON'T serve biscuits and gravy. A SOUTHERN BREAKFAST place that doesn't do biscuits?????

Hey Folks!

Well, looks like I'll be joining y'all in SC. Windstream has graciously agreed to hire me! Start date is 4/27. Thought it might be a cool idea to post up here and see if I can start making some riding buddies before I get settled. I saw this post and figure this was as good a place as any to start! Plus...I might be able to convince some of you suc...errr...fine people to lend a hand when it comes time to unload the U-Haul truck. LOL

Next weekend my fiance and I will be driving up to look into some place to live up there. Have our eye on a house just off 276. If we can convince the owner to do a little rent-to-own for a few months while I get established, moved, and sell the house here in GA that will make for a perfect situation!! Otherwise I might need some suggestions for a decent, but cheap apartment and a couple good storage areas.

To introduce ourselves, here's a link to a ride report I posted a while back...sheesh...I guess it was "a while back"...2 years ago. OK...so I don't post here much.

Looking forward to having fun exploring a new area!!

zomg a windstream contact !!!! get them to give me better speeds lol. Congrats on job and welcome to area. great place to live if riding twisties and scenic views on two wheels is a passion.

Congrats on the job and welcome to the area. My wife and I live just south of Travelers Rest and near the intersection of 25 and 276. Life is busy, but if I can help unload some, I will. Just pm me...you will owe me a breakfast from Stax.

:D

Well I'll jump in and welcome you also! I'm in Boiling Springs, just above Spartanburg. Yup the riding here can't be beat. Beautiful twisty roads right outside your doorstep!

Welcome, glad to help unload.

(If this goes as planned, I'll show up just a little before the work is done but still in time to for refresments, and blame it on my nightshift job

Thanks Walter! Really looking forward to getting settled in the area. Not looking forward to the move, but Greenville is close enough that it won't be as big a hassle as it would have been if the job with Verizon in Indiana came through! LOL

As for Windstream, right now I don't even know what I can manage to get for MYSELF! Sprint gave us free cell phones..would be nice if WIndstream gave me free internet, at least! (a discount on DISH would be nice too!!) That's one other thing I'm gonna have to look at with any house I get too. Make sure I can even GET DSL or cable internet there!! The place I'm most interested in right now is pretty far out there.

Thanks wheaton! The place I'm most hoping works out is on Tolley Hill, just off Moody Bridge Rd so it would be just up 276 from you a bit. Google maps says it's only 20 miles from my office on N. Main St in downtown. I did 30 miles every work day for 10 years here in ATL (no freeway though..all side streets) so 20 miles will be a breeze. Plus I'm going to be on mid shift after the first couple weeks so traffic won't be an issue.

I'll definitely take you up on the offer for help. Planning on taking our time moving. Not going to do it all at once. I'm still getting severance pay from Sprint until November so have plenty of time.

We COULD do Stax...but....you haven't had any of Carla's cooking yet. She is an AMAZING cook, and loves to cook for lots of people. Once we get completely moved we'll have to have a good BBQ. Her BBQ sauce will amaze you.

Thanks Eric! I saw a couple houses up in that area but figured it was just a little bit too far to go every day for work. I'm looking up by Cleveland. (Which is funny since I'm originally from the Cleveland, OHIO area!) Looking at some of the roads there on the map is what started getting me REALLY excited about moving there!

Welcome, glad to help unload.

Thanks 1911!

I'll be moving in stages so you'll have plenty of chances to help...and once you get a taste of the kind of grub Carla cooks up you'll want to get there EARLY! From what my new boss tells me I'll be on mid shift myself after the first couple weeks so you might not be able to use that as an excuse after all. LOL

Thanks for the welcome folks! I am REALLY looking forward to this move. A bit of new job and move time jitters, but if some plans fall into place like I hope I think this will be a really good move for us.

Oh....anyone know where I can get my center stand welded??? Probably won't get a chance to get it done here now. One leg just broke right off when I tried to stand it up on the center stand. Been relying on the side stand for a while now and since I have a 2003 model I REALLY make sure to check that it is in the full down and locked position.

Welcome to the area. I'm over in Six Mile and usually commute to work on the bike 2-3 days each week. That's 40 miles each way. You shouldn't even notice the 20 miles. :)
