Traffic can get really tight on that route through north Jersey/NY. Be safe.
So I have heard :)

I have tried to accommodate that by taking the Garden State Parkway and Tappen Zee Bridge, instead of staying on I95 through New York. It's a little further but hopefully will avoid the very worst.

Have fun, ride safe. See you in ABQ.
You just begged the Rally Master to ban FJRs in the IBR, and now you're posting on FJRForum.... Does your hypocrisy know no bounds

Be careful ... there are none so fervent as those "Born Again" ... "Seen the Light" ... etc

I rather suspect (although he will deny it) that this one is the "Run silent, run deep" type. Keep an eye on him in the IBR.

Edit: Actually, that applies to both of you :D

Good luck Twigg, if that is your real name? That rhymes with The Stig. Could it be??? Nah
lol ... I'd rather be the "Star in a reasonably priced car"

My real name is a rather more mundane affair ... Steve Bracken

Just in case the RM does not grant my request I need to have a backup plan.

I did want to Twigg a little props for his up coming ride.

See you soon.

My "States Visited" map is looking a little sparse, something I intend fixing in the next two weeks.
I am leaving at 10.00 am, Friday 19th June, from Idabel, OK, heading for Albuquerque, NM via all the Lower 48 plus Washington DC (well it seemed rude not to).

Tracking is here:

For those who can see it there is a Facebook Event here:

The aim is to be at the IBR Start location in 7 days. This may or may not prove possible. Either way I have a decent cushion to get under everyone's feet over the weekend.

If you want to follow the progress I'll be glad to have you along

That looks like an interesting ride. But man, you picked to travel almost the entire north/south length of Nevada - seems like there must be a better way to hit those Western states!

You are going to be pissed if you get your wish, then your bike breaks and mine is the only one you can borrow :D

Yes, down through Utah to Needles, CA would have been better.

I picked that route because it cut 300 miles from my original plan. It only saved 4 hours riding time because the roads are not as fast ... but on a ride like this that usually means you see more interesting stuff.

Bed here if you want or need it. Garage with lift and tools too.

I'll PM you my cell

John

Steve, I've always admired your posts on this site, and now I know why.

Back when I was still a wet-behind-the-ears LD rider (ignore for the moment the fact that, compared to you, I still am) I was a member of the LDRiders list. Some of the nastiness that ensued there following the untimely passing of John Ryan convinced me I had better places to spend my time -- but before I left, I made note of the names of some of the folks who spoke with the voice of reason and compassion, and the names of some who didn't. Just for future reference. You were among the former group, with David E.B. Smith and H. Marc Lewis.

Thanks for being the kind of person you are, and good luck on the 48/7.

That was kind of you to say

Some have, very rarely, experienced my alter-ego

He can occasionally be unpleasant but I try to slap him down when I get there in time.

As for the LD Rider List ... Lots of egos there, including mine. What I will say is that few, if any, of those folk are quite the way they can appear on-line.

It was tough when John died ... it is tough when anyone dies but that one really shook people. I'm please I managed to be sensible about it all.

heh ... I remember now. I paid tribute to a few of those who have died since I have been around. I was hammered for not including everyone. One guy who should have known better was a complete *** about it all. I'm sure he is nice in real life .... That was a difficult period and some lashed out at anything that moved.

Hey Steve, just thought I'd point out that the your Trip Viewer has you passing under the GSP at Woodbridge Township and taking the George Washington Bridge into NYC via 95.

Steve, looks like you'll four-lane it all across the Big Sky State. You'll pass though my town, Butte. I'll p.m. my contact info. Bed, garage, etc. 85 mph and under on the four-lane won't get you stopped. 86 might. Out east, top a hill, see for miles, jam it on. But be warned of typically heavy patrols from the eastern border to Glendive and on to Miles City. My wife and I did our first SS 1000 last Saturday. I can't really wrap my head around that x seven! You da man! Good luck, ride well, ride safe, enjoy!
