I hear that they will be ok. There is definitely going to be a recovery period, though. The really good news is: they had just stopped at some big MC gear shop on their way to the meet & bought Annette new jacket, gloves & pants on their way into town... so she was ATGATT. I expect that they didn't think it'd be tested so soon. I, or someone that knows more than me will post more details when we have them.
Holy sheet... They were at the Iron Pony last Wednesday when I rode out for a meet & greet and she was picking out her new gear... Damn glad she did. Sucks it has now been field tested.

Here's to hoping for a speedy recovery.

Side note - as their status is updated, if they need transportation assistance (for themselves and / or the FJR), I have a truck and I'm pretty sure I can get my hands on an enclosed cycle trailer (um, for the FJR, of course).

Crap, and when it looked like there weren't going to be any serious accidents.

Prayers to my 1 night roomates, Heidi

Very sorry to hear this news.

I hope Wayne & Annette are Ok?

Please keep us updated with any news you may have.

Thanks to all the organizers and attendees!!

I had a great time.

I'm not new to riding nor to the roads in WV/VA but I am a newby with the Feejer and the FJRFroum.

Thanks to everyone for making me feel like one of the gang.

WAY TOO MANY CRASHES,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but with that many bikes, I guess the odds are in favor of something happening to someone.

Anyway, The Raven and I are home safe.

Gosh I just heard the news about Wayne and Annette. I talked to them Monday morning at breakfast when they told me they are staying another day and were heading for Burkes Garden. I feel sick after hearing about their misfortune.

My thoughts are with them and hope they have a good recovery.

Ingo

Steve (Exciter99) and I just got back home. A little over 2,000 miles for us and a great time. Thanks to the organizers for all the work that they put into it. George

Back home safe and unsound (in mind) here in NH today @ ~ 1500h 9/23. 2100 miles in a weekend makes me giddy. Many more than that quantity of smiles.

I had full intentions of slabbing the entire return trip, but after Art (Roadrunner) and I got to Chambersburg, PA by lunch time yesterday, which meant we had knocked off our entire 2nd day of the trip down in 4 hours, we decided to get away from the BSTs (Big Scary Trucks) and CPTSM's (cell phone talkin' soccer Moms) and retrace our route down on the back roads of PA. We made it to Wilkes Barre last night (which was my planned layover anyway) and then split up this AM for the ride to our respective abodes.

What a completely and utter... magnificent way to use our time on his earth! I was listening to James Taylor while riding this morning telling me "The secret to life is enjoying the passage of time." Yeah hunh!, Jimmy. You got that right. Kind of jived with Ari's theme on Saturday night, IMO. And so did all of you guys... What a great rally. Being my first, I have nothing to compare it to, bt I think it could become habit forming.

It was really great matching up some names and faces to their forum handles. Hopefully my Alzheimers will allow me to retain a fraction of it.

Discussions over the last few days with some other attendees say that there can be no EOM anywhere other than Lewisburg. Those country roads truly are "Almost heaven". I guess with a few more diesel spills we'd find out how close to heaven they are... But seriously I have never ridden roads like that before. And it's not just one road , it's anywhere you turn. Where else are we going to find that kind of stuff? The hotel was awesome (and cheap).

The only problem I have found with riding in West Virginia is that when you get back you find out that they flattened and straightened out all your favorite roads back home, and the speed limits have been lowered unreasonably while you were away.

My last point (and I'm truly sorry to be so verbose, but that's just the way I am). I was extremely moved, exhilarated, and proud to be part of the kind of "FJR family" that takes care of their own (albeit as a bit of a prank) like was pulled off for Jordan Haerter's memorial fund (Axeman's son). Anyone that was there was enriched by the experience. Stay tuned for more ideas on how to keep this rolling...

EOM 2008 - Been there.... done that... (didn't get the tee shirt because I was a mamby pamby procrastinator and was waffling on my attendance). I'll get the tee shirt next year... :yahoo:

PPS - Who wants to be the photo model on next year's tee shirt? There may be a little "Sports Illustrated cover photo hex" involved... ?? Get well ExtremeMarine...

Total miles for me on the trip was 2250.

I can vouch for Jim & Iris (and me too) as home safe.

It was a pleasure seeing the friends I made last year, and at least as much of a pleasure meeting new ones.

So sorry to hear about Wayne & Annette, certainly hope they heal up well.

Made it home 3:00 today safe and sound.

Total miles 1795.

Had the time of my life. :yahoo:

Those roads are awesome. Can't imagine having this anywhere else.

Made new friends and saw some old ones.

Will do it again next year.

Sorry to hear about those that wrecked. Hopefully all goes well.

A BIG THANKS to all that made this possible. It was awesome.

Ride Safe,

Art

Great time.

Thanks to all who helped put it together.

And all the roads in Virginia Beach are flatter, the curves have been straightened, and they posted slower speed limits while I was gone.

Looking forward to next year.

Mrs. Violione and I arrived home in Va Bch Monday around 6:30 PM safe and sound. Rode back with luvtoride and did a tank to tank ride from Monterey, VA to east of Richmond, VA.

US219 was nice but a little busy with truck traffic. WV66 over to Cass was fun and US250 was its usual twisty pleasure ride until we met up with VDOT's chip-seal debacle on BOTH sides of Jack Mountain, what a slippery sloppy rocky mess!

Mrs. Violione had a great time at EOM and wants to do this again next year, she was evening hinting that she would like to get a bigger bike (has a 150cc scooter now) so she could ride along and not 2up. Although this was the second time I have ridden 2up, it was the first time I have done it in the serious twisties! I had a blast with my wife and I have a new appreciation for riding 2up and my skills riding 2up were getting better each mile we rode.

My bee sting in the eye brow is better now but it still ouchy if I touch it :glare: , so I don't touch it. I think I got a picture of it right after it happened and will post is soon along with details and my benadryl induced haze while riding with spklbuk, fencer, Dana, luvetoride, Dirk and better half and others up down that mountain in Penter, WV-- holy mackerel!

Everyone take care and Wayne and Annette will be in our prayers this week for a speedy recovery.

The ‘Beams rolled in at 1650 yesterday afternoon after 2,150 most excellent miles. We rode about half way back with TheAxeman which made the trip even better. Very sorry to hear about your ignition switch melt-down Axe! Thank goodness you had the extra switch with you, unexpected malfunctions are always stressful. Axe, what we couldn’t recall at supper: Griswald Inn in Essex, CT – one of the biggest and best Sunday brunches you can find, reservations recommended.

We slabbed up to Harrisburg to give us extra time to meander home via secondary roads from there. We rode some of the Pa Mountains, through central NY to the Catskills and parts of the Green Mountains on our way home. As FredW noted, the roads at home suddenly look anemic.

We had a great time at EOM, thanks to everyone that worked so hard to put it all together. The roads and scenery in WV are awesome. We look forward to next year’s EOM!

It was great to meet so many of the people that I have written to and whose postings I’ve been reading. There were several people that I really wanted to meet but it didn’t look like it would happen, then kismet intervened. I had been looking for rfulcher because of our ongoing AVCC activities but couldn’t find him, then after signing TWN’s yellow road sign I stood up and right there in front of me was Ross! On Sunday morning I kept running into everyone that I wanted to at least say hi to. Thanks for a sip of the ‘good stuff’ on Sat. GalaxyBlue! It great to finally meet Fencer after nearly a year of chasing a wide variety of electrical gremlins with him via PM. Fence, glad to see you there on a FJR!!! I’m sorry I forgot to ask you if it is finally all straightened out. Spklbuk, sorry I didn’t run into you sooner but you seem to have been really busy poisoning everyone with your special brew spiked with strawberries from hell  We enjoyed our supper and conversations with Fred and Alex! jwilly and Scab, it was great to say hi, I know both of you were either really busy or really drunk socially involved in the evenings activities. luvtoride, I'll continue to look into your intake pressure sensor problem, this is a weird one.

Best wishes go out to Wayne and Annette, hope you both heal quickly and completely!!!

Ion's a Doc.?
I'd swear he's a vet, based on all the barnyard animal noises coming from his room Friday night.

Where'd you get the chimpanzee, Ion?

Are you talkin' to me?

I'm surprised you could hear anything over the clanking of beer bottles coming from your room... ;)

Got in last night. Really hate to hear about Wayne and Annette! Two of the nicest people.

Had a great time. No problems but a close call about 1/8 of a mile from home I just missed a deer by about 10 ft.

I guess he was just welcoming me back..

BIG thanks to all of you who made this event happen!

PS- Thank you to whomever gave me the pat on the top of the helmet signal (LEO warning) on 60 as we passed each other on Saturday. I owe you the beverage of your choice.
That'd be me and I'm not picky... ;)

I made it back to the flatlands and cornfields of Illinois Monday evening around 6pm. This was my first FJR event and truely enjoyed meeting people and putting faces with the Forum Names. And thanks to my new friends who let me ride with them, I had a great time Saturday. Sorry Steve for the scramble GPS Jill took us on Sunday. I still haven't figured that one out.

Anyhow, had a blast. Can't wait for next year!
