I am planning a twisty night ride across Hwy. 14 to Push Mt. road to Hwy 5. This is deer country  , but I enjoy riding at night :yahoo: . It will be less than 2 hours long.
I hope that turns out to be a good idea. When I was there over Labor Day weekend I saw a lot of deer on 341 (Push Mt Road), around 10 AM. I can only imagine the swarms of forest rats milling around after dark.

I have a extra room at the Anglers.. It is a double, my brother and BMW Tom can't make it. PM me your name and phone, I will let the Anglers know who to give it to.. First to reply has it. If no reply in 24 hours, I will dump the room. See you all there... Smitty

Extra room has been cancelled.

Can I have a count on who will be in Bonne Terre Mo. for the Friday ride to Angler's. The plan is to have breakfast at the Huddle House near the Super 8. About a 8:30 eat time should work, try to be on the road by 10:am. On the way down I planned a ferry crossing, it is a cool old crossing. The ferry is powered by a old Merc motor. It has had it's powerhead removed, and now sports a electric motor in it's place... You can almost hear a banjo in the background   ... It is a $4. dollor ride across, but the road on the other side is priceless. Fresh blacktop, and smooth. This time next week we will be relaxing in Arkansas :yahoo: :yahoo: . Smitty

Smitty,

I found out today that I will be able to get off work and do this ride. I will try to get a room reserved tomorrow. I plan on riding down with you Friday. I can meet up at the Huddle House or at the gas station in Potosi if your going that way. I assume the ferry you speak of is the one on the Current River at Akers Ferry? I will try to call you tomorrow after I get the room reserved for sure. Im going either way. I can always stay at one of the other motels in town if need be.

Later,

John

FOF ride? Hwwwaaa?

I'll be going down with you on Friday, smitty. I can meet you at the Huddle House, though I'm not sure where in Bonne Terre it is. When I look it up on mapquest, it points to a location a fair piece from the highway. Can you give me directions, or is it right off 67?

The Hud is just of the highway, next to the Super 8. You can't miss it. It's essentially just off the north side of the exit ramp when you turn off to Bonne Terre.

You guys have a great ride down. With a little luck I MIGHT be able to meet up in Arkansas. We'll see... It'll be last minute for me.

Oh, and FOF is Friends of Freddy. It's a great little (~100+ bikes) asstd with the HSTA. I did it two years ago, and it was a blast.

Drew, when you get off a Bonne Terre southbound ramp turn left. You go about 1/4 mile and turn left, you will see the Super 8 sign. It is next to the motel.

Here is the list so far... Not sure if the Iowa guys are still coming..

Me

Skinny Dave

Mark (wheaton)

Mike

Drew

John (V2Win) (meet in Potosi)

Chester (meet us at Anglers)

Petey (meet us at Anglers)

Its looking good. I hope to leave Thursday AM and get a head start on you guys.

WheatonFJR - are you still looking to share a room Thursday? I have thought about coming over there Thursday but am still undecided. Its a lot of extra miles that I could be doing in Arkansas.

Yes Chester. Room is still open for a room split if you want it...

PM sent...

Well, it looks like I might make it to the H400, so... anybody needing to split a room in Arkansas? I don't smoke and am pleasant company.

Ask wheaton, he'll tell you.

Well it looks like this ride and riders are adding up. I count 12 and if zzzip makes is he will be the lucky 13!!!

Since there will be a big number of bikes.... here is what I was thinking.... Split up into two groups, let the guys who want to wick it up go up front. I would have Skinny Dave take the lead on this group. I would lead the second group at a softer pace... You will pick the group you want to ride with. I just don't want anyone having to ride over there comfort zone. This will also make fueling less of a problem with a load of bikes at the pumps. We will all meet up for lunch, and I would be very surprise if the go fast group would be over 30 minutes ahead by lunch.

Please remember, we are out in the middle of nowhere. Help is a long time off... I want everybody to ride safe, and be careful. Also this is not a group ride, you are only responsible for yourself. Please don't put yourself or a fellow rider in harms way...

Please let me know what you think if two groups. If you have any ideas, post up please... Smitty :yahoo:

Two groups is the way to go. I was thinking earlier today that the group was getting large enough that two groups would probably be necessary.

zzzzip - I'm not sure that I would be as good a roommate as you but I have a room that has only one bed, I think it's the Jed Clampett honeymoon suite, but I would think that we could have a rollaway added.

If interested let me know and I'll call down there to see if it can be done.

Chester
