There was a Greek guy with an accent on WMMR at lunchtime in the 80's that was pretty funny that called himself "Nick the hotdog man".

The best hot dog in the entire universe is the certified official "Fenway Frank" when consumed at Fenway Park in Boston during a Red Sox vs Yankees game. You may think there are better versions of the hot dog available, but ambiance is a big part of the whole "dog" experience.

Oh, by the way, they have proven to taste much better when the Yanks are losing.

Hal, Trust me on this one! You and I have met in person, so you know firsthand from my big belly that I'm a healthy eater.

Ted's Hot Dogs in Tempe, Arizona is the BEST! From the minute they open the doors in the AM until they close in the PM there is a line going out the door! In addition to the one Arizona location, they have eight stores in the Buffalo, NY region.

When I rode to Maine last year, I routed myself through Buffalo just to have a Ted's Hot Dog enroute to Acadia National Park. Don't trust the judgement of these skinny guys. Trust a guy that looks like me - Chuy Medina, or Barry - Barabus!

Rutt's Hut, Clifton, New Jersey. This is my home town, but have lived in S.C. for over thirty years now. When I go home for a visit, going to 'Rutt's' is always high on my list to do. Deep fried, and available in various amounts of 'doneness', you just ask for your pleasure; great fries and onion rings too, and don't forget the birch beer.
Rutt's Hut is great. I'll have a 'weller' with their special relish. Yummm. I used to work a block from there. That was more than 30 years ago. Boy, time goes fast.

I have to say my all time favorite is Hank's Franks on Route 46 East in Lodi, NJ. A couple blocks from where I grew up. It is a typical Sabrett place that started out as a push cart, but they have a variety of topings to satisfy the local Italian culture. Even my kids ask to stop at Hank's Franks when we visit.

There are (or were?) a couple of good Texas wiener places in Clifton on Crooks Ave. when I was a kid. And I just remembered, Fall's View in Paterson had good Texas wieners.

Local to me in the Catskills is Dallas Hots in Kingston, NY. Grilled dog on a bun with cayenne pepper. Not as good at Hank's or Rutt's, but it's the best in this area.

OK, you're nuts, but a fun kinda Nuts.

Chicago Various Locations

orginal location, 100 W. Ontario St. said to be the best.
Double GUNNY on the Portillo's.

BTW, the original Portillo's was a Doghouse looking trailer in an Addison shopping center parking lot on North Avenue called "The Doghouse".

Best burgers, dogs, polish, etc... :clapping: :clapping:

My favorite dog is from a place called Gus's in Watervliet, NY. It's been there for over 50 years. Start with half a dozen with the works...trust me they're small.

Huh... Did someone say Hot Dog? Evanston, IL

Awesome... Right next to Northwestern's Stadium.... Pretty much the only reason to go there.

Damn... I'm Hungry now ;)

The best hot dog in Maine is a lobster roll like the ones that you can get at Waterman's Beach in South Thomaston, ME.

(Slightly off topic, but not a total hijack.)
Hell's Bells, 'beam, they have those at every Micky D's on the coast up there!

Here's my vote:

Disabled Vietnam vet, gives his heart out to local kids charities, feeds the homeless and just gives and gives though he has little himself. Hecka guy, Bill is. :good:

Another vote for Rutt's Hut, and, because they are deep fat fried, they have the added benefit of being REALLY bad for you.

Favorites of mine

Jack's Cosmic Dogs - Mt Pleasant SC Get a "Galactic Dog" Chili, cheese, slaw, spicy mustard

Good Dogs/Bad Dogs - Portland, Oregon

Superdawg - Chicago, Ill

Brighton Hot Dog Shop - Several locations in Pittsburgh, Pa. and western Pa.

The Hot Dog Shop - East Liverpool, Ohio. My riding buddies have acused me of owing stock in the place cause every ride seem's to end here. Great Chili/Cheese dog and fresh cut frys and the prices can't be beat

"Scrappy Dog" - cart vendor in Chico, Ca.

He only comes out at night though, after the bars close.

It is 'customary' to save your last two bucks of the night (read no tip for the bartender) so you can get a Scrappy Dog.

Mmmmm...drunken, stumbling, steamed, ketchupy goodness.

Brighton Hot Dog Shop - Several locations in Pittsburgh, Pa. and western Pa.
Wow! Brighton getting some love.

While I mentioned Superdawg in a previous post, my #1 draft pick of all time is actually The Hot Dog Sandwich Shop in Butler, PA ... but I didn't think I should mention it since it went out of business several years ago after the owner lost the business due to other shady deals. :angry03:
