i eat my hot dogs with just the meat and the bun, nothing else

i rarely find one that i don't like so it is too hard for me to pinpoint where the best is :D

Somewhere in deepest, darkest south Missouri.... Ellington, MO maybe?

My great uncle used to own a Dog n Suds in Tampa, Florida. I didn't know there were any left. It has been so long since I ate there I don't remember if I liked the food.

Mel's HotDogs in Tampa. You can get them both regular or skinless and they have more varieties than you can think of.

The Windmill Restaurant in Stratford, CT. Has won "Best Dog" in New England a couple of times. If you don't specify what you want on them they come with chile and kraut.

Here's where we're at about 24 hours or so into this crazy idea of mine -

EDIT Feb 05 2008 - Maps moved to post #1.

Hey, I recognize that place...and some of the FJR's there. :clapping:

I didn't try their dogs...but they had great icy cold mugs of root beer. :yahoo: Great on a hot day while out riding.

Close to home for the OP is Jerry's Dogs in La Habra (Beach and Imperial Blvds). The use a wood fired grill, and have a couple of different choices (all beef, sausage, etc).

There is also Portillo's (same as the Chicago original) at the Buena Park mall (La Palma and Stanton)

Here is Vegas, we have Uncle Al's as well; I would be ranking it third overall.

What I really want to find is a great wing place in Vegas. In SoCal we had Wingnuts (baked their wings, and had about 30 sauce choices), and I make sure to go there every time we head down for a visit.

There's a Dog n Suds in Richmond, Illinois (near the Wisconsin state line and northwest of Chicago) ... it is very popular with the bike crowd and has that nostalgic drive-in "feel" to it. A definite joint.

See post #1 in this thread - wanna come along?
Sorry...hadn't looked at post#1 in awhile and forgot...

Do I wanna come? Yeah I WANNA come...it would be an EPIC trip, historic and fun, too.

However...I cannot come on your great journey in to the world of hotdogs. I have my own plans for this year(NAFO & Rockies) and 2009 (out west to the pacific region)...so I will have to see you then and leave you to conquer hotdog land.

If I'm on yer route and ya wanna a free Portillo's dog or polish...I'm yer man. :clapping:
