Yeah, but there is a ton of taxes in that price. Granted, that don't make it hurt any less. At least it is good old, pure, unadulterated GASOLINE. Right?

Don't be confused, folks, there's a fair amount of fuel taxation here in the US.

Those taxes keep roads and bridges maintained, widen highways, build airports, and pay for traffic lights. Our transportation network is a fundamental pillar of the US economy -- and a fabulous place to ride my FJR.

Federal tax is $0.184 per gallon. This shows what the other taxes are by state.... Kaleefornia wins.

I would guess that, at least for now, this might win the lowest price award most anywhere in North America in the last several years, from Dec 20th. This was the regular price for a couple of days. Lines at the pump were several deep.

Holy cow! Guess there really is some compensation for living in Texas.

$2.49 at Costco here in the high tax state of PA.
