I'm with Sports Guy here. Many years ago I met a couple of fellows on the road. One guy was riding a Wing while his buddy was riding a Honda 250 scooter. The scooter guy had 250,000 miles on his scooter and loved it. It was real interesting talking with him about long distance travel on his scooter. The only issues he ever had with the scooter was the drive belt reliability was unpredictable but he carried a spare or two and was a pro at changing them out.

It ain't what your ride it is how you ride it.

And I'm back!

...and sad to say, after pulling the logs, it appears Hudson has been visiting the Lambretta and Honda Ruckus forums!

Don, I only joined the Lambretta forum because I mistakenly thought "Lambretta" was an Italian cured beef delicacy.

My bad... a Lambretta has no lamb.

Turns out the only aged meat on that forum belongs to Don. Though I did see where he rode naked at their recent flower show. Won first place for his dried arrangement.

OK, full disclosure time has come since the issue of scooters is on the table.

Of course my fire-breathing 2014A FJR sits in the garage waiting for the next long ride, probably this fall. But to putter around town/neighborhood, to and from work now and then, out on dates with my wife, or spontaneous goofing off or get-out-of-the-house occasions, I have opted for a maxi-scoot.

I have located a 2008 Yamaha Majesty in red with a mere 4400 miles, garage kept, well-maintained, etc. There I said it.

As was stated in a recent movie I saw, in all of its many forms and fashions, there really is no susbtitute for having fun. Scooter are fun.

Let the caterwauling begin.

What's happening? First a couple guys move onto Wings, and now Scooters...

What next, somebodies gonna post up a coupon code for Light Days? :D

I bought a Honda Silverwing scooter a year ago love it. 582 cc twin cylinder twist and go belt drive, 50 HP it will do 100.

Its fun and easy to ride takes a little time to get used to. No clutch left lever is the rear brake linked brakes rear to front.

Its great to ride in hot weather, all the heat is vented under or behind the scooter. 05 FJR can bake you when its HOT.

14 front wheel 13 rear stay out of road grooves tracking a issue if not ready for it.

Poor FJR only got 750 miles this year, scooter 5500. I don't commute only a weekend rider live 1 mile from work.

Fast enough to pull cars from traffic lights, corners great nothing scrapes. Passes most HD riders, some get !!!!???!!! pissed.

Sigh ... this was a very long, and fairly old thread, that ended up having almost nothing to do with scooters, so it was funny to see it resurrected today.

It was also fun to see some of Don Stanley's antics again.

I had the Bigger Suzuki Bergman once ... for about 3 weeks in 2008. Scooter World was too much for me. I sold that bike faster than any other I'd ever bought.

But I lost no money. It was a leftover 2007, so I got it for a great discount. And then in the three weeks I owned it, gas prices shot up and the scooters sold out, and I was able to sell it to a fellow for what I had in it because he was desperate to save money on his commute.

So .... it was pretty much a tuition free lesson for me.

FWIW, I hated the scooter wheels, the scooter suspension, the scooter acceleration, the scooter braking, and the scooter comfort.

I rode it on some of our ridge roads up and down the plateau, and it is the only bike I've ever had that would literally hop hop hop in some of the more exciting corners with the stock set up. I was not sad to see the back side of it when the buyer rode it away.
