If I don't get a little seat time....

Here's the scene Bradman and I encountered at Morrow Mountain State Park (Uwharrie NF), near Albemarle, NC, on our ride this past Sunday. We had a mini heatwave...3 days of 70-80 degree temps. As expected, everyone got out and rode, lol.

On my ride into work this morning, it was 45 and drizzly...typical January. Rain shmain...the wheels don't stop turning unless there's ice or salt on the ground and, so far, we've had none of that this year. :D

45....On my ride in this morning it was 23, and the bike is covered in salty road spray

Walt, We get an average of (1) of those days every few years. It Sucks! I have to break out my one sweater. :)
Yea, but that damn sweater lasts for YEARS!

I got to ride in to work today after nearly an entire week of not riding. Man, that suuuuucked. Here in Dallas I went ahead and rode while the temps were low last week. I was very much looking forward to Friday with temps at 70 and sunny. Then my boss walked in and dropped the bomb that I had to go to an offsite location on Friday and take a bunch of new equipment out and haul all the old stuff back so I was forced to drive on the best day on the 10 day forecast. Saturday was nice but we had a ton of family show up in town.

Then Sunday the temps dropped and we had freezing precipitation on Monday and Tuesday. While I'm not sure I'd brave those conditions on my own, I certainly don't want to do it around Dallas drivers. Standard operating procedure for these ******* is when you see ice, jam on the brakes. Yeesh, no wonder there's so many accidents around here. My small suburb seemed to get the most precipitation as we still have snow in the shadows but I hauled the bike out and rode. Thankfully I don't have to navigate any of the sand covered high overpasses with the curving ramps so I can brave a little bit of sandy straight roads.

TWC said it was 31F when I left so I geared up, plugged in and grinned all the way to work.

The older I get, the more impatient I get during the winter months. I race pitbikes indoors to keep active on two wheels.

But I still hate not being on the street. Even on nicer days, the roads have TONS of slop/salt residue covering the pavement.

Next monday will be at -5°F...for a high!

I hate it when that happens! And sometimes the opposite happens. A few years ago we had a cold snap hit that resulted in temps down into the teens virtually every night. I rode to work a couple mornings at 17 degrees, which tied my record for coldest temps ever ridden. On the one day of the week where the temps dropped even lower, I had to take the kid to the dentist! Ruined my opportunity to set a new record in miserable cold riding temps!

lol, just a little improper quote tag cleanup. I've come close to doing it myself from time to time.

Yep! It's happened to me too. I've chosen to ignore them also. New software glitches will drive you nuts if you let's them. I'm choosing not to let them! :))

Dude, that's the IT motto!

You see what I did there?

Well after what seems like about 6.5 years, early yesterday morning, in the Easter sky, I saw what can only be described as a Heavenly glow. Turns out it was that great source of heat we all have grown to know and love.

What do you know - it came back today and I'm told there's a great chance it will do so again tomorrow.

Tomorrow....we ride!!!!!

Yeah Pants, thanks for the invite. You go and have your fun while I am at work earning the money needed to feed my starving family. No, don't let it trouble your conscience, enjoy your ride...

60o right now. Bright sunshine. Dry roads. GREAT riding in the Sierra foothills about half an hour away. No job to distract me. Price of gas is down about a buck fifty since this summer's high. Bike's running fine. New tires. I'd say more, but I've got somewhere to go.

Ahh, retirement in Sacramento. Priceless. ;)

Weather was beautiful today...and I didn't ride.

Opted instead to take the wife and kiddo for a picnic at the zoo. Good times, and I can ride tomorrow.

Apologies for the rudeness in not inviting. I'm sure it won't be the last time....

I managed 275 miles Saturday on mostly "local" roads in the general area of home. I've ridden these roads hundreds of times, but still, it cured the fix.

Sun's shining and mid-60's today, and since I'm celbrating Dr. King's life, I think a "peaceful" ride is in order this afternoon.

Yep! It's all part of the Zen thing that I have going on now. And maybe the fact that I'm not a computer Geek. A little of both Maybe!!
