Ok, since I'm relocating to Gunnison/Crested Butte, CO. within the next few weeks.
I'm in for, oh let's say 70%.
Well that sounds like good news. Why don't you tell us about it? ;) Probly' even deserves its own thread.

:clapping: :clapping: Congratulations!!! :clapping: :clapping:

Page huh? Well... I think I might be into that idea. :D

If Mr Checkbook cooperates and the stars and planets align, I'll be there. Oh screw the money, I'll be there regardless! I have been dying to go that way on the bike!! B)

Thanks for running with idea Burk!

PS - I could really do October easier than Sept., but majority rules obviously.

Another possible sign-up here. Got to see how Andy and his new bike do on a long trip first. The 1200GS isn't quite the sweet ride that the FJR is, on a long haul.

Any you Phoenix area guys up for a ride Saturday (5-30) to Page to scout out a motel?? This is shaping up well!
Burk
Oh Boy, Burk; Son Seth and I are booked every weekend until we leave from Chandler going to Nakusp, British Columbia for the Canadian FJR Rally. But, on Sunday June, 14 we Stanley Boys could route ourselves through Page and check it out.

As you know, I retired from Metro Mechanical two months ago and I am free as a bird during the week. If you can wrangle a free week day off, I would be glad to ride up there with you early some morning to check out hotels, restaurants, etcetera.

fjrchik: Thats really great news that you may be coming to visit we Zonies. If you can make it: Art, Greg and I will arrange a Devil's Highway ride for you either coming or going from Tejas. Naturally, you will have a place to stay here in Phoenix.

Silver Penguin: Congratulations to Andy on his BMW R1200GS. In our AZ Beemers Club the R1200GS is the most popular model among our 150 members; a fourth of AZB are on R1200GS's. Andy will enjoy his R1200GS on the long haul, I have ridden my R1100GS from Chandler to Quebec, Canada and to Michoacan, Mexico and the big GS Trailies are comfortable.

HIJACK: Silver Penguin, has Andy changed out the tiny windscreen on his R1200GS yet? Best touring improvement I made on my 1996 BMW R1100GS was to install a AeroFlow Corp. GS Half-Fairing. https://www.aeroflowscreens.com In Anaheim, CA. https://www.aeroflowscreens.com/R1200GS.htm

https://www.aeroflowscreens.com/R1200GS.htm Go with largest size! First made a mistake of following their sizing chart!

Thanks Don. Until July I am out of vacation days so a weekday trip is out for me. I may try to go up a week from this Sunday. I mainly want to look at hotel properties to make sure they aren't dumps and they are close to or have a nice bar and restaurant. I sent Wetdog a PM to see if he would help in this area as he lives in Page. Not that I want to save a trip or anything!!! If I don't get anything running by June 14th I will take you up on the offer.

Cool, we may have TurboDave at SWFOG. C'mon FJRChik you can make it in September!

More to come!

Burk

Need some input. I have been surfing for host motels in Page. I have found the price ranges from $69 per night for a place that has a customer rating of 2.5/5 to some nice places such as Courtyard by Marriot or the Lake Powell Resort that run $125 TO $175 per night. How much you want to spend on a room? The cheaper places do not have restaraunts or bars which means we have to travel for dinner, etc. I am thinking the $125 range.

Please post and let me know.

Thanks,

Burk

That's all I need to hear. For a social event like this, I'd pay a little extra to have libations and food on-site, or at least within a few blocks so peeps could walk.

I'm with you. I believe WFO6 was at a Courtyard by Marriot and it was very nice. At around $125 a night I think its workable. Hopefully we can get a small break on the price with a group. Still looking for more opinions.

Well, ...been lurking for quite a spell to see what might be happenin' down in the SW this year, and it appears there's now a bit of momentum building, so I s'pose it's about time to chime in and show some interest in the spirit of keeping the ball rolling. WFO is on my docket, missed the cut-off for the B.C. gathering, nothing else major penciled in yet and a late season ride down yuze guyz direction sounds like a fun way to bag some miles! Call me a tentative attendee if it materializes...

Please see this and this for the rest of the story.

BadcatBurk, I'm with Pinhead, I'd rather pay $125 for a place with a bar/restaurant on site; I'm Irish and I drink a little (lot)!

The $69 would be ok if'n there is a restaurant and bar next door, across the street, within crawling distance.

However, the $125 ain't a deal breaker either.

Just sayin...

https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php?s...=114013&hl= I also agree with okierider that $69 would be great if it's within crawling distance. I spent 2 weeks in March in Ireland and I personally discovered I'm really only good at crawling for about 100 meters away from the pub. But then my 12 year old son Seth found a used wheelbarrow for sale and even with his size and age, he was good about packing his Da in the wheelbarrow for about 500 meters. If there are big strong young lads such as RenoJohn or FJRay there, and I can rent a wheelbarrow: I figure about a 1000 meter range.

No joke here, true story... Several years ago up in Portland [OR] in the Old Town area, Couch St. specifically, in broad daylight; came around a corner to find local wino just about at the centerline, crawling [appeared to be swimming - perhaps it was the Australian Crawl] across the street. Took a minute or so but he made it to a safe haven between two parked cars before deciding to nap a spell w/ the curb for a pillow! Down but Not Out!!

I will see what I can put together with the Courtyard by Marriot or the Best Western. They sounds like it would suit us the best.

Put me down as 50% and maybe my neighbor too (don't know if he is on here yet).

Would be my first gathering.

Anyone else coming from Salt Lake City?

J.
