Good luck shines on me...I think. This thursday my work is taking me to....Page! I was hoping to ride up on the weekend but what the heck I can get paid to scout out a host motel! So with any luck by this weekend I will have lodging details!

I've been trying to plan a trip in that direction. I'm 50% in, somewhat depending on finding others to ride over with. I'd be coming from San Antonio, TX. Any Texans game?

Sweet, it was just meant to be! I hope you can find someplace cool for us with off-season rates!

After internet research I visited two motels today in Page. One is really nice, has a good restaurant and bar, pool and all of the amenities we could want and in the next couple of days I will find out the group rate. I spoke to the guy in charge of catering and he gave me several workable options for a banquet. The staff seemed excited about having our group.

The other is ok, has a steakhouse and bar across the parking lot, I am not as impressed with it but it would do in a pinch.

If all that are interested will allow, I can say that there will be a SWFOG 2009! Registration opens soon!

I think I know this place. The steak house is pretty good (not great) and they have a large patio that ovelooks the dam -- from a distance. The patio is quite nice at sunset. Am I close?

That sounds right. Might be worth having an evening meal there for the sunset.

No, it wasn't that good. ;) I'd only mosey over there for dinner and drinks if we were staying at that hotel -- which I stayed at last September. The hotel was ok. I'd stay there again. Hell, I'll sleep just about anywhere. If you do the arrangin', I'll show up and be happy. :D

I am in the 90% range. I have ridden all thru that area but wouldn't mind doing it again.

Here's a quick update: we have 23 riders who have shown interest in the event. The large majority are better than 60% sure they will be attending. :) I am hoping to post the motel/banquet information by the end of this week.

SWFOG 2009 will be here before you know it!

I have only had my FJR for about a month. I would like to go to this, but at this point only about 33% that I can. Not retired and business is bad this year.

Thank you, Lord! I just got the okay from the Mrs. I'm 100% in. See you in Page.
Missile, I live just north-west of El Paso on I-10. Depending on your route, maybe we could go up together from here.

Dingus,

I'm kicking around some ideas on a route and I'm also looking for some San Antonio people to team up with. I'm sure we could work out some location to meet and ride together. Also, I'm looking for a roommate to share in the hotel expenses. Maybe that would increase your chances of going. Take care and let's talk/type later.

I am finally back on the forum yah man. I will be there Lake Powell have reservations at Marriot for thursday and friday. Looking foward to meeting people and riding. The dude from Havasu contact me if you want to ride to Powell together.

Interest in a 2009 SWFOG gathering?, Page, AZ Late September early October?
In! About 69%.

It won't be too hot, will it?
https://www.canyon-country.com/lakepowell/weather.htm Old Michael: The September Hi for Lake Powell - Page is 88 with a Lo of 60; October Hi for Page-Lake Powell is 77 with a low of 46; Water temperatures of Lake Powell 76 and 69 respectively.

Since we're there in the last weekend of September I am guessing 82 for a Hi and 63 for the Lo; but remember, during the day we'll be riding to much higher elevations such as to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, and to Bryce and Zion Parks.

Now, as you well know, whenever you are within 50 feet of SkooterG please factor in another 10 degrees for his hot air BS!!

Also, in a 150 mile radius of Page, plan on afternoon monsoon thunderstorms popping up at 1400 hours daily like clockwork!
Based on the above, do you think I should buy/bring a rainsuit for this trek?
