Today, I go to remove my seat with the key, and I notice that my daily key "twists" a bit upon reaching the lock stop = Uh oh!

I unfold my wallet and pull out my spare key, and swap it with the daily key.

The spare key has been used very little since I had it made. Unlike the daily key (being brass), it has never been torqued to the point of breaking.

In considering this action, I decided the solution was better than suffering a broken key in a lock when I least need to.

On second thought ... never mind, and sorry I took up so much bandwidth!

Slow day in paradise George?

I had keys made last week as the stock keys are crap. After three ignition swaps and two different locksets on the bike I gotta get organized. Good reminder George.

Are the new keys "better" or did you just get new ones because of the chance of bending them? If they are better material, where'd you get them?

No, George: Papa Chuy is really glad that you posted up. Obviously, a new Crop of Cambria Chronic Cannabis has been harvested. Send me five oz's; I'm good for it!

Papa Chuy, Senor DS, Don~Don etc.

No, I was NOT referring to that type of Key replacement!

Geeze, and I'm actually a guy who quit smokin' "the weed" 35 years ago, and I gotta put up with this rhetoric in this time and age?

Man, this place IS retro! :dwarf:

Actually, I have a strange mind when I'm straight, and I'm seriously trying to cope with it, every minute, every day!

Oh, and thanks for your support! :clapping: <_<

HRZ - I went into the local key shop some time ago to have a replacement key cut, and they had a Yamaha compatible blank. I am not sure of the alloy, but the shavings were not brass (yellow) colored.

After they cut the new key, it needed a bit of hand filing to make it work, but it seemed(?) slightly more "stout" than the OEM model! HTH

Ditto for me. The keys are alloy. No filing needed. Multiple motorcycle keys made by them and they all work well. No problem getting them cut at a real key maker (not a big box store). And they don't bend.

Actually, mi Amigo OM, we're now on Mountain Time here in Arizona and you're on Pacific time; but that changes shortly. It is currently 4:15 AM. For my entire 22 years at Metro Mechanical in Phoenix, I had to be at my office at 5 AM. My Pipefitters started at 6 AM, so I had to have them scheduled out for their days work. So, no alarm clock needed for me; I just wake up at 4. As to your question: Yes, I am a freakin' rooster! At least to the old hens I get to screw!
