yes
I believe Carver is planning on changing the CCT and while you don't need the valve cover off to do that it would be a 'nice to do' to confirm that the valve timing is correct and to get a baseline reading of valve clearances for Carver's records. With the motor out of the frame and the oil pump cover off already to do the CCT none of this is time consuming and IMHO worth the piece of mind.if only 5k miles why take the valve cover off?????

Some teaser pix..
Fixed!Just fer s&g, run a leak down on the old engine. I bet 1 and 4 absolutely suck blows!
I wonder if this 2k8 engine has the updated CCT part? Anyway of visually determining? Have to look at order, but I think I ordered a new CCT anyway. And yes, while it's on the bench I want baseline clearance numbers.I believe Carver is planning on changing the CCT and while you don't need the valve cover off to do that it would be a 'nice to do' to confirm that the valve timing is correct and to get a baseline reading of valve clearances for Carver's records. Are you sure it's blown? And I'm bitching about a blown fork seal. Maybe I should just shut up.
Glad you got your motor Don. We're pulling for you. She's gonna run like a scalded ape here real soon.
The updated CCT will have a blue dot on it.I wonder if this 2k8 engine has the updated CCT part? Anyway of visually determining?
If it's the "upgrade" version (I prefer to think of it as up-dated, not up-graded) it WON'T be attached to a blowed-up Feejer Motor!I wonder if this 2k8 engine has the updated CCT part? Anyway of visually determining?
If the cams are mistimed it will not matter if the CCT is the updated version or not. Very bad things will happen. If it's the "upgrade" version (I prefer to think of it as up-dated, not up-graded) it WON'T be attached to a blowed-up Feejer Motor!I wonder if this 2k8 engine has the updated CCT part? Thanks for all the support, guys..If it's the "upgrade" version (I prefer to think of it as up-dated, not up-graded) it WON'T be attached to a blowed-up Feejer Motor!I wonder if this 2k8 engine has the updated CCT part? Anyway of visually determining?
