I ain't no expeeeert, but those numbers look REALLY good! As would be expected on an engine with only 5k miles.

Go Carver, Go!

if only 5k miles why take the valve cover off?????

R
I believe Carver is planning on changing the CCT and while you don't need the valve cover off to do that it would be a 'nice to do' to confirm that the valve timing is correct and to get a baseline reading of valve clearances for Carver's records. With the motor out of the frame and the oil pump cover off already to do the CCT none of this is time consuming and IMHO worth the piece of mind.

The eagle has landed!

(I haven't been able to translate the 'code' behind my php drupal site and this forum yet, apologies for the off site link, don't have time to duplicate..)

Some teaser pix..

I wonder if this 2k8 engine has the updated CCT part? Anyway of visually determining? Have to look at order, but I think I ordered a new CCT anyway. And yes, while it's on the bench I want baseline clearance numbers.

MadMike, the dispatch told me a 57' truck. When that little pip-squeak truck showed up I just had to chuckle wondering how the dispatcher described his manhood when posting to online dating services?

Have these parts on order...

Today's plan

  1. Check valve clearances
  2. Remove PAIR, install block-off plates
  3. Start stripping KrZy8
  4. Purchase L brackets for anchoring table
  5. Install L brackets
  6. If time, leakdown test KrZy8 OEM engine
  7. Lots of honey do's too

And I'm bitching about a blown fork seal. Maybe I should just shut up.

Glad you got your motor Don. We're pulling for you. She's gonna run like a scalded ape here real soon.

Are you sure it's blown?

I have fixed two leaking fork seals in the last couple of months with the sealmate. Some of the best $10 I have ever spent.

If it's the "upgrade" version (I prefer to think of it as up-dated, not up-graded) it WON'T be attached to a blowed-up Feejer Motor!

If the cams are mistimed it will not matter if the CCT is the updated version or not. Very bad things will happen.

Lookin' good, Don!

I've seen some absolutely ****** looking engines for sale on E-Bay;

Yours looks fantastic.

Thanks for all the support, guys..

There have been some pretty low moments.

Like when after all that work she sprouted like a **** queen all over Hal's rafters..

You know things are south when even your best ball busting friends just say, 'Oh'....

I do have a new CCT on order. Gasket too..
