plenty[/i] of trails around this area, that why my next bike is gonna be a dual sport.
Go get it so we can ride with you on Saturday

How many gallons fit in that gas tank Uberdual?
I bolted on a 3.5 gal on it first thing. I figure 150 miles easy but unless we are doing alot of real trail riding (standing up) my ass with give out way before my gas does! :dribble: I have been doing a litttle reading up on your bike Andrew, I think you need to pull that bad girl into the UberGarage so we can get her down to fight'in weight!

Mike I'm noticing more that just a little interest in this dual sport thing? I'm thinking you should take your own advice,

we’re discussing what you want and what you think you deserve. You DESERVE the Adventure, so you should buy it.
I personally wanted a dirt bike with lights though. Dropping one of those behemoths down hill on any kind of trail would be miserable. You would want the extra gas after a few falls to light the ******* on fire!!! The only other bikes I considered were the KTM's but the price difference and snazy Italian parts on the Husky sold me.

I'm eagerly waiting for my 6 gallon XR600 air cooled 2130 chrome moly framed ATK to be finished! Sometimes old school is best!

Stock is 2.64 gallons so I will get about 100 miles.

I know there are various easy upgrades to do to uncork the machine, I'm not so sure about losing a lot of weight. Gimme a list of the main things you'd do.

To me the first thing I want to do is get the larger tank. I would really like to have a lot of range and am looking for a 4+ gallon tank. I know they exist, I just hope I don't have to go to Australia to get a $500 plus tank.

All that said, I'm not done farkling the FJR and the DRZ sits second fiddle in the farkle section so it's staying pretty well stock except for the enduro wheels being on there.

Andrew, I'm sure you already know this but everything you ever wanted to know about DRZ's is here: Thumpertalk
Yah...I just wanted to know if Brad has a better source, or if he has unique ideas ;)
No new ideas here, it has all been hashed out and thunked up already over there at Thumpertalk. I was just thinking how much fun I had stripping all the useless crap off my bike, in the Husky's case that wasn't much. I use to have a DR350 and it was always fun to trying to make it more dirt worthy. To me the way to accessorize a dualsport is to de-farkle it!

Well, I was considering these things:

1) Jet kit

2) Better but not too much louder pipe

3) strip off some "stuff" that is unecessary that has hoses and cannisters and things

4) Add rack with soft luggage

5) Increased capicity fuel tank

6) hand-guards of some type that are worthwhile

That's really it.

Yeah, I've been thinking on this subject for over a year. I'm not nearly as hungry for "real" dirt riding as much as exploring fire roads, etc. At my, uhm, "stage of maturity" I don'e bounce....I break. And I can't afford that.

I suspect I could be "wooed" by the right 600-650 thumper, except that lately, Skyway has been the farkle-devil-from-hell with his creations. He's working at keeping my plans extended and my checkbook slim. :D

well...my Bridgestone Trail Wings are no good in sloppy mud and snow. But my street gear kept me healthy! LOL

The last time I was in such slow slides was in a 4 wheeled vehicle after a freezing rain in Nebraksa .
