I think Maine is beautiful. I probably wouldn't like it in February, but last year when my wife and I were up there for our leaf peeping trip, it was wonderful. Perhaps our biggest surprise (in a good way) was Arcadia NP. We were astounded at the similarities of the topography there to our southern Louisiana swamps.

My grandfather went to Maine when he was in his 80s. He was born and raised in Norway, but came to the US after college and stayed.

He wept when he saw the forests and craggy rocky coastline because it reminded him of Norway.

Maybe Norway, Maine and the Louisiana Swamps have more in common than previously recognized.

Only things shared between Maine and Louisiana are membership in the USA and an ocean shoreline. No, Louisiana has a Gulf shoreline ... so only one.
