From the PGR site watch list Re: Fallen soldier Lance Cpl. Anthony E. Butterfield, 19, of Clovis, Calif.

I was just advised by a cousin of this Fallen Marine that his family is being harrassed by protestors to the point that they are having to change their plans to claim his body, conduct his funeral, and grieve as a family and church community.
I recommended that they contact PGR immediately to request assistance and establish a mission to assist this family. It is my understanding that the California coordinator is being contacted as this is being written and the family is being contacted to request the assistance of PGR.

I pray we can make this happen.

My sincere thanks to any member who works to make this mission a success and give the family the peace and privacy they deserve in their time of grief and pain.
If this rumor ends up having merit, we need some new faces on FJRs at the ready...

A little far for me, and I gave UHaul their trailer back. But kick their ***** for me, will ya?

Okay, looks like this is a confirmed mission now.

I just got word from the CAO. The family has invited us to the services of our fallen hero.

Any sources for a flag and mount for the back of an FJR?

Don't mind paying for overnight delivery.

Also, will keep watch for your posting confirming meeting time and place.

I found a pole here, down at the bottom of the page (hide-a-pole) that will fit a 3x5' flag. Haven't mounted it to the bike yet. There's a local store that sells nice 3x5's for about 40 bucks or you can find one online or local to you.
I found a nice flag & pole kit recently at Costco for $37.00 and I use it for double duty on my house and PGR rides (pole bracket & pole for house, portable pole for the rides.

It's not as important to fly the flag from the bike, and actually can be a safety hazard with a large flag (getting around in your face), but we line up standing with our flags and the nicer looking, the better, IMO.

Let me know if you need me to pick a flag up locally. Thanks for stepping up.

Edit- Does anybody else seem to be having trouble viewing the PGR website? I can't access it today?

I am having a problem accessing the PGR website.

I Think I can come down. I am asking for this to be approved by my boss without me having to take a vacation day (which I have very few right now due to me just starting this job).

In terms of a flag...I will be able to get one this weekend.

In terms of dress, I wear a suit to a funeral...is that appropriate in this case? Be my fashion counselor

They have a Technical Difficulties" message up-may have been hacked. A suit is totally unnecessary, just leave the ***** shirts at home.

I once went to a funeral in a casual collared shirt. Felt so underdressed, vowed to never go to another without wearing a tie. For the PGR missions, I wear my FD dress blues. Paid $500 for the damn thing, might as well get some use out of it.

Most of the other riders just wear their jeans, t-shirt (screenprinted usually) and decorated leather vest. It might be fine for a biker's funeral, but IMHO, not the garb to turn out to honor a national hero. I like the example the gentleman is wearing on the PGR home page, button-down collared shirt with his leather vest.

OV, if you wear a tie you won't be the only FJR guy there with one on. If you want to meet up at the station at 0730 hrs and go in together, that's fine with me. Same for you, Paste. I'll give directions if needed.

THIS IS NOT A GROUP RIDE! Think of it as a bikepool.

I can get back on now, but can't find any info about Lance Cpl. Butterfield :dntknw:

They ran outta database ram. Lost aprox 4-5 days of posts, so it may (should) reappear as they work on it, had 4 gig of new ram coming. Be patient, I guess. And as far as uniform of the day, I've been to a dozen of these now, I'll be damned but no-one has called me on what I was wearing. This has been the subject of several threads in the PGR forum, with a lot of **** tossed from both corners, no good came out of it. Consensus: better to show dressed however, than to never show at all.

Yep...gimme directions from 99 to the station please

Let's wait on our plans until JihadGene posts the final itinerary (hopefully later today), then we'll work around it.

Breakfast is a good idea. I almost passed out at the last one because I was running on empty. Blood sugar crashed, then I did.

To you all, I'm a retired Marine and I appreciate what you're doing for my brother.Jim
I was in the USAF for 8.5 years, and brothers do this for brothers. That we have citizens without military experience doing this is the best thanks anyone in the military could receive in my book...so thanks to them!!! :clapping:
