Hey!

Anybody up for a ride?

Going riding this morning, and I always make sure to notify my local FJR brothers.

Here's the plan....sort of.

0655 - Breakfast @ Katrina's in Auburn, CA.

0740 - Heading out Foresthill Road to some of the very best and funnest motorcycle roads in these parts.

(Sorry. Don't have a particular route mapped.)

Participants (so far) -

RsvlFeej

Bokerfork

Old Michael

And yes, knowing the two other fellows listed, I'll be bringing up the rear.

They're normally willing to wait for me at intersections.

So -

semi-frantic pace - occasional stops for photos - lunch somewhere.

Should be back in town by sometime between 3 and 9 pm.

Papa Chuy? MEM? djbill? Who else we got?

And then, I've GOTTA get my PNW Ride Report done.

Out the door here. Gotta pick up my bike from work.

Have a great Sunday.

Bump.Okay, now I'm really out the door.
Mick, look in your rearview mirrors, it's your Papa Chuy! Slow down, would you? You're riding like that damn Brian and that forsaken Fairlaner, for Petey's sake!!!

By the way, when did Bokerfork pick up that chartreuse riding suit anyway?

You're killin' me here. Wouldn't I love to be riding there except.....I keep thinking about you guys riding in 100-degree heat and I have NO idea how you do it. Ugh.

I'm in NS and it's been a weekend of minor calamity for me -not limited to a UFO coming off my bike last night about 10 minutes from my final destination. Turns out it was my .....wallet flying out of my tankbag!? Cathy and I piled into her car and backtracked - found the wallet, credit cards (corner broken of the big-money one but it still works :p ). Today, on the way back from Peggy's Cove, my photo-taking was abruptly interrupted at roughly 1700h when my camera broke free from its lanyard. Turned around and found it on the asphalt with the battery latch open and battery gone. I was too p**sed to look for it - which I regret now, of course since it would likely have been a good back-up for my new camera this week. Didn't like that camera anyway.....

Tomorrow's a new day and I have no camera to record my 3-hour ferry ride home. <sigh>

Looking forward to the AllOverHall ride report.

BTW, I never did see any photos of Dr Rich's crabs crab that he caught fresh from for you guys ?

Mostly, we don't ride in 100+ degree heat, at least not for pleasure. When we do, the solution is evaporative vests under mesh. But, more to the point, . . .

It only got to a high of about 90 degrees F today here in Auburn (~1200 ft. elevation) where OM had breakfast. A week or two ago was another story. Most of the route he described is considerably higher (what he described and/or probably rode is between ~2,500 and 5,500 ft.). When it's over 100 degrees, elevation is the solution out here, and we have the Sierras here for that purpose. For reference, anywhere above 4,000 feet and things get bearable again -- on even the hottest days. That's maybe a 30 minute ride from here, and at 7,000 feet at Donner summit (an hour), it's downright pleasant.

Sorry to hear about the wallet and camera. There are days like that. :(

Glad to hear read that you found the wallet, though. :)

I feel as bleet up as one of Bust's sheep. Say what you will OM but we never found ourselves waiting at intersections. I do suspect however that Patrick was taking it easy on us.

Great day out with great peeps. Just wish I was in better shape to keep up with you guys.

Thanks to both you and Patrick. Great friends, great food, great roads. Life is great.

I feel as bleet up as one of Bust's sheep. Mark, I am sooooo glad you didn't say this on Michael's "quickie ride report". Don't wanna know where MEM, Barb, and Co. would have gone with that lead in Say what you will OM but we never found ourselves waiting at intersections. I do suspect however that Patrick was taking it easy on us. Nah. Brisk pace = good fun
Great day out with great peeps. Just wish I was in better shape to keep up with you guys. Agreed to the first clause, but the only waiting (not related to wrong turns) that I recall was watching you figure out how to put on your jacket w/o rotating your arm. Kind of entertaining in a combination, "There but for the grace of god, go I" shadenfreude way and in a 'remove the metal ring puzzle' spatial engineering question way.

Thanks to both you and Patrick. Great friends, great food, great roads. Life is great. Yep, put me in the best frame of mind I've had since starting my new job - Thanks back to the two of you.

I'd have gone if I had known abooot it. :dntknw:

I still haven't tested out the new front fork setup. Well, other than around town, but that don't count.

Dang I was headed up that way...... must of just missed um!!!!

Sorry about all the drama you had MEM... if you don't have any fooked up days, we wouldn't

recognize the good ones.........

HA! That wasn't all of it.

On Monday, on the way to the ferry, I hear - and see in my peripheral vision - my Zumo clunking to the concrete at around 70 kmh. Turn around, backtrack, turn around and find it. It doesn't look very good but ..... I snapped it back onto its mount and...lo and behold, it worked !!

Jeezers - what a weekend. I'm not myself lately. What can I say ?

But hey. That's the small stuff. Overall, life is good.
