I'm staying in downtown Cleveland this week and am thinking about pulling the bike out of the parking garage tomorrow and seeing what is outside of the city. Any places I should see or even general direction I should go? Restaurants outside the city that are a must? Keep in mind I do love me some BBQ! So, what are your suggestions?

By the way, keep in mind I'm not looking for an iron butt ride here. I get out of class at 3:30-4 and am looking for a 2-3 hour ride. Not trying to ride to Kentucky and back!

I work late (7:30a.m.-9:00p.m.) Tuesday - Thursday. There are some great places to eat along East 4th street downtown (not sure if there is any BBQ down there). As far as must ride roads in Cleveland...there ain't much unless you head south about an hour. There is the Emerald Necklace (Cleveland Metroparks, about 62 miles) that goes from Rocky River to Brecksville, but it has a 30 MPH speed limit. It is a nice ride if you're not in a big hurry.

Depends on how far you want to ride and what you want to ride.

For a quick in town ride, here's one I'd suggest. It's NOT high speed twisties, but it's a nice little run through the park. Yep, there's a National Park right there in the city. It's very scenic with some twists here and there and some elevation changes. The speed limits that you DO NOT want to exceed will take the fun out of it, but it's a nice distraction. We'd drive over here and hike on weekends and I always wished I had a bike to ride there but all I had was my track bike.

Basically, once you are on riverview road, keep heading south till it gets boring and you want something else. It's a nice quiet ride that you'll enjoy without having to do big miles to get there.

I got pulled over on Riverview Rd just south of Brecksville, cop said I was going 63...good thing I had my get out of jail free badge.

Yea...pretty much do NOT speed anywhere in the Cleveland area. And the insane speed limits too! 25mph on primary roads through the suburbs! I went to visit my parents in Florida and my mom knows I'm a speed demon. We are on the main drag through Tampa and my mom asked me why I was going so slow. I looked and I was doing 40 in a 45 and felt like I was flying!

Having spent a good deal of time in that area 20 plus years ago, I can't say as there is anything worthy..
Head down towards Zanesville and the like.

Actually if you have some time (about 2 hrs south of Downtown Cleveland)...a great little road that has been freshly paved is Rt 93, between the town of Baltic south to Rt 36...run it both directions...you'll have a blast.

I don't think you'll be doing any riding today though

My brother and I just did a +500 miler yesterday in SE Ohio. It's too bad that I am reading this, this morning. P.M. me, and maybe we can get together sometime.

We played several games of Harley Leap Frog yesterday. There must have been something going on down there. We passed hundreds of these guys, and they all saluted us in fine Harley fashion.

P.S. Stay out of the parks. It's impossible to do 30 MPH around those turns. My last ticket was $205.00 including court costs, and the LEO threatened to tow my bike for being +20 MPH over the speed limit. They call that reckless driving.
