The US doesn't get an immobilizer (or colors) and I've heard from the Great White North that if you loose your chipped key it can cost roughly $1,000 Canadian Bux to recover. Perhaps I don't mind not having an immobilizer.
After dropping my keys down an elevator shaft a few weeks ago I can agree that I'm glad all I have is a key.

Richard,

enjoyed seeing you Johnny, Greg and Steve, Jerry and Tom and having some good ole fashion BSing and stories. I really dig your new ride. based on your comments and previous experience with FJR's sounds like it is a killer model. Congrats on the purchase.

As long as you don't lose the red key then new keys can be programmed in (new keys cost about £35 from Yamaha). If you lose your key and didn't get the red key or have lost it then its going to cost the wrong side of £1000 (English pounds) to sort as a new ECU, ignition and transceiver are required.

(there are specialists out there who can pair a key with an ECU but its not cheap either)

ok first service done (a little late), wow that first oil is some nasty ****....everything looks now it is time to ride it like i stole it.

It was good to see you too Dave.
A very enjoyable evening with some really cool friends. Can't wait til next year,

Smoother for sure, i could actually use the mirrors at night in the rain. I also got to test (unintentionally) the Traction control while changing lanes on the freeway at 65 mph, I gotta say it works very well and does what it is supposed to do.

Excellent. No matter how much I synced the TBs it still buzzed more than I wanted. Lost a bar end weight on the last trip, an expensive Throttlemeister.

Let's see...I'm Gen II owner and now that the 2013 is available, my bike just depreciated again. Being that its an 2008 AE, it's probably worth about half of the 2013 A. Notice I said "A", because Yamaha doesn't think we need an up-to-date bike that matches the competion with inverted forks, eletronic suspension..etc. Nope, they'd rather push the same ole bike with cruise control and some other negligible fluff! Not that i'm complaining about the same bike, I love mine, but the reality is, considering my current value, I'd have to spend 7k+ for cruise control and some other fluff for close too if not the same riding experience??

I'll save for the Triumph Trophy or the BMW K1600 GT, or better yet, just keep riding my 2008.

What does this rant have to do with Fairlaner's particular pristine 2013? Let's be happy for the dude...and rant somewhere else. Yer killing the vibe on the new 2013 bike smell.

This is not the "whiney, complain about whatever" thread. There seem to be plenty of those around. Find one and doodle there.

I doodle anywhere I darn well please mister! ...and in my case, if the vibe costs 7K then let it die!

You've got the wrong bike parked in front for the photo! Quality problem I know, but you need a re-do with the 13 sitting there!

Delighted to hear that all the new owners of the 2013 are pleased with their purchases. Yamaha again did a fantastic job, enjoy your new motorcycle and happy riding :)
